The problem with modern football

Two incredible games in two nights. Amazing football on display. Amazing atmospheres. Memories that will last a lifetime especially for fans of those clubs.

The final in Madrid at a stadium that holds 67,000.

The teams will be allocated 16,000 tickets each. With the rest entorely neutral, sponsors and corporate.

Surely thats not right. Even we would need more than 16k.

The problem with modern day football is that fans don't matter. It's all about the money.

Another issue is how many of those odd surplus 35000 tickets will end up in the real fans hands, but they'll have to pay God knows how many times the face value to get one.
UEFA, just like FIFA, is corrupt.

You're absolutely right to say it's a problem, but I don't think it's that modern tbh as it's been an issue at the FA Cup final for example for years and years. When it was 100,000 at Wembley and it really was the huge showcase game of the season, the clubs got 25,000 each (I think) leaving 50,000 for hangers on and loads of genuine fans were denied the trip.

You want to check out the ticket prices for it.

Scandalous doesn't even begin to describe it.

Only 100 tickets for kids for each team. You have to buy them as a "1 adult 1 child package" for 120 quid.
No other concession prices.

Categories are: £60, £154, £385 & £513.

Take the FA Cup. No one is forced to enter. It is a celebration of the FA. So the final is for all members of the FA. That is why they retain the lions share of tickets and they are given out to all their members. That is why back in the day my Dad who ran the Burnley Gas Board footy team which was affiliated to the FA, got two tickets for the final. These were raffled off and the money made went into the running of the club. You may not like it but that is the way it worked. I am sure it is more or less the same now.

I was aware that many FA Cup Final tickets are given to affiliated clubs and organisations at grass roots and county level for example, but I'm sure with UEFA it's much more a case of corporate sponsors and their cronies, many of whom aren't actually that fussed about the footy and either go for the free jolly and spend most of the time in the bar or sell their tickets on.

They're actually very similar in price to what Liverpool had to pay last year, its ridiculous.

It is what it is.

Like with Sky changing fixtures. Fans mourn but then rub their hands together when were safe thinking about the tv money.

How many sponsors is there? Uefa lot. BT Sport. Foreign tv stations? Club officials? We could all guess which ex Liverpool players will be there, Rush, Kenny, Thompson, Gerrard and co. Once all the tickets are allocated the amounts left are then given to fans.

its a scam, and has been for years. limited access to match tickets for genuine fans .

just like wembley is a scam, no reason whatsoever for London to have the national stadium and have semi final games there too.
fans should have boycotted the place.
and the travel companies will be rubbing their grubby paws now as they exploit those going to madrid.

Big finals are always the same. The FA Cup is bad but not as bad as it used to be.

When we were in the 1962 final both us and Spurs received an allocation of 15,000 out of a 100,000 capacity. So it's not just modern football.

And fans will end up mixed and not segregated.

See what happened v russia in marseile.

There will be literally thousans of liverpool and spurs, chelsea and arsenal unsegregated in a high pressure match.
