Only looks like about 5000 fans there. They look lost in Wembley. I know it’s an experience for the players and fans but would have been a better atmosphere played at somewhere like Turf Moor or Deepdale.

We had this discussion last week - big day for the players and fans who I think would call it bonkers not to play it at Wembley.Vegas Claret wrote:bonkers to have the National League play-offs at Wembley

Salford would have walked the league but for their 11 game wobble, Grezza has done a very good job there

Official attendance is 8,049 , sorry, but that's a joke in a 90,000 stadium ..

Fylde nearly went bust last year when some bloked nicked a quarter of a million. Take that amount out of Salford and no one would notice.cricketfieldclarets wrote:That’s exactly what Fylde are.

surely it's a great thing for non-league football ? the fact they are no longer in it with their wealth should level the playing fieldPearcey wrote:Pleased for Grezza but not for non league football.

Re: AFC Fylde v Salford City
Just read that in 2017/18, Salford were propped up with a £2.4 million loan from an investor (presumably Peter Lim who owns half of the club) and they were still losing £32,000 per week in National League North.
Re: AFC Fylde v Salford City
Just goes to show that even in non league football and as far down as the North West counties league it's generally all down to which teams have the money and can pay the biggest wages.

Not sure if Lim owns half now since Beckham joined them. Lim had previously tried to buy Liverpool.jrgbfc wrote:Just goes to show that even in non league football and as far down as the North West counties league it's generally all down to which teams have the money and can pay the biggest wages.

Giggs, Scholes, Nevilles, Butt and Beckham have 10% each and Lim the remaining 40%.ClaretTony wrote:

Re: AFC Fylde v Salford City
The chairman of Fylde is not a pleasant guy. Just like Bob Lord. Club is just his play thing. Salaries exceed £1 million/year...incoming revenue less than half that. Huge staff turnover behind the scenes. 5 gm’s in the last year. Words cannot describe just how chaotic that place is. That said, his main company, Vetplus, turns over millions. He does loads for the community as well. He only bought kiekham & Wesham after Oystons refused to sell him Blackpool. Impressive manager there in Dave challinorcricketfieldclarets wrote:That’s exactly what Fylde are.

It’s David Haythonthwaite. He bought Kirkham & Wesham when the Oystons kept him out of Blackpool and Andy Pilley bought Fleetwood when the Oystons kept him out.Marney&Mee wrote:The chairman of Fylde is not a pleasant guy. Strong suggestions that Pilley is now trying to sell Fleetwood to buy Blackpool.

It's odd that so many people are wanting to build strong football teams on the Fylde coast, sparse population, generally considered as deprived areas, and obviously many much bigger rivals nearby in Lancashire, Manchester and Merseyside.ClaretTony wrote:It’s David Haythonthwaite. I know. Worked with him as a supplier a few years ago when we were involved in the new stadium. Every time we went there was a whole new team there. And he would regularly burst into meetings knowing nothing about what was going on and start throwing his weight around.Marney&Mee wrote:The chairman of Fylde is not a pleasant guy. Not a surprise given Aberdeen’s main striker signed for them in the summer for a bigger wage then he was on and turned his back on playing Europa League and games at Celtic and Rangers!ClaretTony wrote:Just read that in 2017/18, Salford were propped up with a £2.4 million loan from an investor (presumably Peter Lim who owns half of the club) and they were still losing £32,000 per week in National League North.
Basically the QPR and Bournemouth’s of the National League
