My favourite ref. Generally ignores the reputation of those involved and goes off what he sees.

Mike Dean summed himself up right at the very end of the Manchester City -v- Leicester City game, with his actions.

They were in the final knockings and Man City were keeping the ball in the corner. Just as the final minute of time added on clicked over, Dean awarded a free kick to Man City by the corner flag, in Leicester’s half. Rather than just blow for full time, or let them take the kick quickly then blow, he made a point of marking the position of the ball with his shaving foam, striding ten yards and then marking the position of the wall with his shaving foam. City take the free kick which was inevitably kept in the corner and he immediately blew for full time.

Pure theatrics and it summed up Mike Dean perfectly in a single act. The celebrity referee, as Neil Ashton refers to him on Sunday Supplement!

Hopefully he's watching Arse's last minute pen on a loop...and fuming over the cheating barstards antics...getting himself pumped up to ensure the clarets revenge.

I think Deano is claret through and through...even wears some bad beat Bob's under his regular skids, and has a picture of Wade Elliott on his bog wall.

He did the other week and got absolutely no support from some of his guests. I can only assume he's refused Palace a couple of pens.

Best referee in the country for me.

Deano! There's only one Deano! There's only one Deano!

Might be worth a chant tomorrow ;-)

What I like about the guy, once I ignore is occasional amateur dramatics, are that he doesn't take any nonsense off players, especially the 'superstars' and won't allow them to try and referee the game.

He's like that teacher at school that nobody back chatted because they were instantly put in detention, or sent outside. Compare him to how Tierney dealt (or didn't) with the City players and the contrast is palpable.
