It goes without saying that when in England, the Duke is the ‘go to’ ball for our cricketers. However, the 2019 ball isn’t to the liking of many of our players, especially the bowlers. The 2018 version produced far better seam and much better swing! So we’ve reverted back to the 2018 ball. The only problem being - we’ve run out!
For a five match series, a minimum requirement of 600 balls are required, at a cost of £60 each.
The E.C.B have put down £50,000 to get more than enough made. It’s important stuff!

Jimmy Anderson seems to have pretty much the say on what ball they use and 'suggested' to the ECB some time ago that they reverted back to last years version. How can they run out?jdrobbo wrote:It goes without saying that when in England, the Duke is the ‘go to’ ball for our cricketers. Of course they have run out if there was no demand for them until now.
They then get a request two and a half months before the series and start making them.
I can’t see what the issue is.
