Hampshire v Lancashire - Semi Final
Hampshire entertain Lancs today at Southampton for one of the two semi finals in the 50 over Royal London Cup competition starting at 11.30.
I must admit to have been being torn between the Turf and the cricket today but will see our season out and hopefully Lancs will get through to the final at Lords on the 25th when they won't play Yorkshire.

Re: Hampshire v Lancashire - Semi Final
My wife has just pointed out to me that I have lived in Hampshire just 2 years shy of how long I lived in Padiham. I still support Lancs, mind.

A poor performance, couldn't bat 50 overs and looked a bowler light.

Looked a batter light more like! Really struggle in these big games do Lancs.

Re: Hampshire v Lancashire - Semi Final
Winning the away game at Middlesex was a very decent effort - especially losing the toss and having to bat first and let the opposition have the better batting conditions to chase.
Not quite good enough today though. A few good things in the performance but not being calmer at the end of their innings and batting 50 overs with an extra 15 or so on the board was disappointing. The fielding was decent without being great and the spinners did pretty well. They weren't that far short & not disgraced but lacking a bowler a bit more threatening than Onions maybe.
Two v promising performances by Mahmood in the last few days though.
I tuned in a bit after the game started and assumed Hants had won the toss and stuck Lancs in first but the BBC scorecard states that Lancs won the toss and decided to bat first. I'm surprised they wouldn't rather have chased.
Hope Jimmy is Ok after that blow on the knee near the end.

To go from 180-odd for 3 with over 20 overs left and only put on another 70 runs, is poor. Batting department needs to improve.

No you won't be playing Yorkshire in the final ... or actually playing in the final...tybfc wrote:Hampshire entertain Lancs today at Southampton for one of the two semi finals in the 50 over Royal London Cup competition starting at 11.30.

Joking apart I hope Jimmy's injury isn't too serious
