Re: Cork
I agree. A chain is as strong as its weakest link, and sadly that is Jack at the moment.jojomk1 wrote:We have seen the best of Cork, who now gets slower with virtually every game
First one to be replaced this summer
I thought yesterday was one of his better games for us. Until the silly backless he had played really good, but his weakness in the tackle, and lack of pace, and the time he takes to kill a ball and make a pass are costly.
I hope next season we are going to keep the ball on the deck more, play through the middle, and benefit players like Vydra, I can't see that happening with Jack as a starter.

Re: Cork
Not a very convincing way to present an argument to be fair, since we only won 11 in total, so if you wanted to reverse the argument you could say that he played in virtually 50% of our wins, and I suspect in a large number of our 7 draws. These stats on their own are pretty meaningless tbh, since it really depends who the wins were against and in what circumstances.Winstonswhite wrote:We’ve won five premier league games with Hendrick on the pitch this season. Re: Cork
Cork is too slow and weak. He's definitely got worse this season and the stats support that.
If you watch him when we have the ball, he often looks like he doesn't really want it. When he gets it he usually turns and passes backwards, I assume because he's aware that he often gets knocked off the ball when he tries to push on. Westwood is now so much more effective than Cork, and he needs a partner who can contribute more.

I agree, but there are many times there is a simple option and he takes too long therefore is closed down. Just my observationlucs86 wrote:You can only play 1-2 touch when there are options available, we're a defensive side, there's rarely short forward balls on.
There should be better options available in the transfer market but we can't expect too much from Cork's role in the current 'anti-football' system. He does a good job and he's a good worker.

Re: Cork
Last year alongside a fit Defour, he looked great. This year, I have to say, he has been poor. Perhaps, he just needs a break: let's hope next season he is back to his best.

Re: Cork
A break won't increase his relative slowness, but with Westwood's brilliant transformation if we could get another one like him alongside Cork then that might be the right balance in our midfield.
