This started last season and there has been a growing intensity to it throughout this season - it is entirely possible that it will fall into the same status as the "Ashely Barnes isn't nearly good enough for us" thread for those who started it all

the one thing Brighton have though is a proper sporting director who has now had a season to understand what he wants to do and formulate a strategy - he was considered quite the catch at the time however as Brighton season ticket holder @kieranmaguirre has posted today

As a Brighton fan I’m staggered by @OfficialBHAFC sacking Chris Hughton. Side with third lowest budget in Premier League finished fourth bottom & made semi final of FA Cup. #BHAFC scapegoating Chris for failures elsewhere at the club.Chris Hughton wasn’t the reason why #BHAFC signed Jahanbaksh & Locadia instead of David Brookes & Daniel James, both of whom were recommended by the scouting team but rejected by the algorithms of the analysts.

To be fair to the Sporting Director, those decisions were made prior to his arrival

Similar to when Burnley potted Cotterill. Lots of folk outside Burnley though we were mad and that struggling along in the Championship was about as much as we could expect from the Club.

Be careful what you wish for....

More chance of them doing a “Bolton” than doing a “Leicester”.

But there’s also a good chance of them doing a Watford.

I'm not surprised to be honest. I've frequented their forum a number of times over the past few years and a sizeable number of their fans genuinely believe they're more likely to crack the top 6 than be relegated. I imagine they will want somebody with a bit more sparkle sparkle than Chris Hughton.

Big season next year for them.

They have bought a LOT of players in, most who have flopped.

Murray is 37 and can't continue forever.

Hopefully they will self implode

Not suprising with their finish this season, before we beat them they were sitting in a pretty good position.
An over reliance on Glenn Murray goals has probably done for him.

It is frightening if player power got him the boot, as they have a lot of average at best and poor players. He'll end up at Celtic or the Championship.

We might have bothered had we Bournemouth, West Brom and Millwall, instead of City, but then again their run coincided with their rotten run of league form.

Not as bad a decision as it sounds, but their recruitment team needs a big shake up too. Jahanbakhsh for me seems like lazy scouting, and a big fee.

He has underperformed and shown big deficiencies though - if Brighton are willing to recruit a replacement properly, then it’s the right call. Don’t think he was going to get any better.

Their season has been opposite to ours.

Started really well but very poor 2nd half.

Luckily we were sensible enough to stick by our manager.

I wouldn't call 34 points poor. A couple of points above the average 18th place total most years.

Graham Potter has a job. Would he give up at Swansea to go to Brighton? He has turned Swansea's season around in the last few months. Perhaps there is a bit too much unrest there and there will be further need to reduce the wage bill. Dan James will probably go, too, I'd have thought.

Harry Potter has already turned the job down. It wasn't a good fit. Brighton have far too many Slytherin players. He admitted to having an interest in them when his best mate Steve "Ron Weasley" Sidwell was playing.

I bet their fans are expecting a Ranieri type who will splash whatever cash they can raise and immediately establish them as a top European club.
Exactly the opposite of the "Burnley" way and with huge potential for implosion. (Fingers crossed)

The appointment was announced last year but he only started at Brighton in Feb. He was due to serve six months notice with the FA but that was reduced to four months.

Very interesting opening comments too from Ashworth at this link.

They should absolutely push the boat out for Rafa.

Not saying they would get him, but that would be a definite step up for them

Without a doubt the most staggeringly delusional, over sensitive bunch of plastic fans in prem league history . They seriously thought they’d make Europe this season.

They seem to think they’re can make top 6 with “ exciting sexy football” with seemingly little clue as to the financial clout and risk this ensues . One problem they have is that ( rightly or wrongly ) they’re seen as an “ easy 3 points/ bit lightweight etc” whereas BFC ( again rightly or wrongly ) are seen as “tough” “difficult well organised” not to be underestimated “powered by Dyche” etc etc

I’d have them as stone cold strugglers next season along with the newbies and a seemingly rotting Southampton .

It's an interesting situation now they have sacked Houghton.
He's basically, done nothing wrong, good cup run, kept them in the league and not ' bad' football.

They have brought in someone, who they would have had to go great lengths in order to interest him, to work alongside the manager for a future working model and then shelve all their plans.

Appointing Potter won't have been in their plans 3 months ago.

Winning just 3 games in their last 23. That must’ve been scintillating to watch.

And no; I don’t think he did. He did take Dyche’s Manager of the Season Award, mind.

Was talking to a Norwich fan who said they weren't surprised. Complained that the football was terrible when he was in charge there with them lining up not to lose every week (at home) and trying to nick a draw or win.
