Re: Worst song at Turf Moor.
The only one ever worth singing was Jimmy Mullen's Claret & Blue army ...Derby style, every other song sung at the Turf in my life time has been absolute gash
Re: Worst song at Turf Moor.
The songs we sing, they're not supposed to mean a thing.

It's not true either. Walker died from cancer.wilks_bfc wrote:It’s an awful song. Whenever I hear people “sing” it I think about how they would feel if their family member “had a heart attack”. Would they be singing it then?

Re: Worst song at Turf Moor.
It amuses me when people get annoyed at kids now singing Betie Bee instead of Bertie Mee, like it’s actually important. Or whether or not it’s ‘Til We Play or Will We play ******* Rovers, because one makes sense and the other doesn’t. Is it really important if we pluralise Home in in the song about our Lancashire one(s)?
The songs develop over time and the lyrics and tunes will naturally drift with the generations singing them.
To me it’s more important that we actually sing and make noise at matches; what we actually sing and it’s accuracy and veracity is largely unimportant.

The only song I absolutely despise is the Jack Walker one. I feel embarrassed when I hear it, what worries me is the ones that do sing it seem to enjoy the lyrics, not just a brain-dead song to sing

I'm with you on that - there's young lads who probably have no idea who Jack Walker is singing along. It is sad.damo_whitehead wrote:The only song I absolutely despise is the Jack Walker one. We are the Longside Burnley
Re: Worst song at Turf Moor.
Must admit to changing the words of
"In my Lancashire Home"
to
"In my Long Preston home"
cos
a, I don't live in Lancashire
b, I do live in Long Preston
I do agree the "Jack Walker (Long live the Venkys)" song should be stopped.... for obvious reasons.

Re: Worst song at Turf Moor.
Agree with most times have changed and some songs should just no longer be sang. We are not the only club Liverpool sing about Munich Man U sing about Hillsborough it’s up to the clubs themselves to try and change this culture of singing about disasters rivalry is one thing life’s of people are another and more important.
I will add another to the list if I am correct.....
I am sure I will be corrected if wrong but wasn’t “I get knocked down but I get up again” played when we won promotion to the championship. Probably more suited to West Brom when they were up and down in the prem.
Do we actually have anyone who can come up with some songs over the summer to replace all the bad ones I am totally useless when it comes to this otherwise I would try.
Some clubs seem to be quick with new songs and picking them up Liverpool being one of them clubs am sure we have someone with the ability to write some songs get them posted somewhere for all to see and get them going ready for next season.
Just a thought
