Should the Club commission a song to sing?
I enjoy the enthusiasm of many fans (especially in the Cricket Field stand) to generate a better atmosphere by songs / chants.
Anyway, this got me wondering if a (relatively) small amount of the Club's money should be used to commission a bespoke, powerful tune....something really memorable and appropriate.
Maybe it could be run as a national competition to attract entries from well known pop musicians, jingle writers, contemporary composers etc.
(ps. I have got my flak jacket and tin helmet on in anticipation of some negative responses)

Thanks for posting the video ClaretAndJew. A good friend of mine who died around 9 years ago was in a couple of the match crowd shots.ClaretAndJew wrote:Listen to this song and then delete this thread and never have a thought like that again

If you go to the big clubs pubs like Rangers, Celtic, Everton, Liverpool etc then you will hear lots of recorded songs play over and over.
The atmosphere in them with the build can certainly add to the day.
There's nothing like that at Burnley, just chatting quietly.
Probably why it's so quiet in the other stands.

Re: Should the Club commission a song to sing?
Songs that certain clubs have just seem to happen. A club commissioned song? We’d end up with the one linked further up or that nonsense from Reading.
Sometimes I go to a game and can’t get the home club’s song out of my head. Songs such as:
https://youtu.be/bzbcBtuCmio" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And more so this one that seemed to last four weeks

But the chances of having artists in a small town like Burnley to produce one is slim compared to the big cities.

Re: Should the Club commission a song to sing?
I was thinking more like how Ian Broudie, David Baddiel & Frank Skinner wrote "Three Lions (Football's Coming Home)" or even how liverpool used Gerry & The Pacemakers "You'll Never Walk Alone".edison wrote:Like Eurovision, but for Burnley?
