Transfer window open
The transfer window opened at midnight and while I’m not expecting an imminent rush of signings in the Premier League, the sticky is set up and will be updated during the summer.
One deal on already, Wolves’ permanent signing of Jimenez to go through on 1st July and I’ll add Aston Villa or Derby to the list after the play off final.

Re: Transfer window open
Get the offer in for Roofe. How he didn't start last night, God only knows. Much better than Bamford, imo.
Or, Che Adams, although I feel that ship has now sailed.

I know Bamford isn't great but he is a better option than someone injured for Leeds last night

Re: Transfer window open
Good point. I thought he was dropped. However Bamford generally plays ahead of him anyway even when both are fit to play. I much prefer Roofe.

That's a matter of opinion.claretonthecoast1882 wrote:I know Bamford isn't great but he is a better option than someone injured for Leeds last night
How injured was he ?....if he could still fall to the floor like a fairy then he's at least equal to Bamford.
Plus the club would have saved at least a tenner in tissues after the match.

Re: Transfer window open
Not entirely convinced about Roofe. Given the fee we’d be paying I’d want some sell on potential, not convinced at the age of 26 we’d see a return. If it’s a striker we want, Che Adams should be the target.
Either way, the money would be better spent on the midfield, our strikers are not incompetent, their conversion rates are good. Real shame United’s transfer policy looks to be changing - they’d have never gone for Dan James last summer. He’d be a brilliant addition out wide.

Leeds fans don't think that Roofe is anything better than Championship standard, although you've always got to take these thoughts with a pinch of salt.

If we really want Che Adams then we should pay the price and do the deal now,it's pointless bidding again, that will only help brum push the price up and we'll be in exactly the same position as in previous years, looking at what's left. If we are serious about progressing then this is the standard of player we have to sign.

I think the post was referring to the signing of a new player from outside the existing squad, not the extension of another multi million pound Fit Note for one of our perennial sick notes.ClaretTony wrote:No need to predict - it’s 16th May

And that is the reason we didn't get Adams, we didn't offer the amount Birmingham said they wanted.

We’ve signed a Player today from another club. Admittedly he’s a young player from non league but nevertheless we’ve had to wait until the window opened to sign him.Herts Clarets wrote:I think the post was referring to the signing of a new player from outside the existing squad, not the extension of another multi million pound Fit Note for one of our perennial sick notes.

Thanks, hadn’t seen your post when I replied. It amazes me that a select group of posters never want to do anything but hammer the club. Four successive years in the Premier League, not sure what they want.

The transfer window for players from another Association cannot take place until the FIFA Player Matching System is opened on June 11th. Don't know whether Cardiff, Swansea, Newport County or Wrexham stand on this as they play in the English pyramid but are all registered with the Welsh FA

We don't need to sign anyone. Vydra in talks with SD to discuss his future which will be positive now he's had his obligatory season on the bench. Crouch will sign a 12 month contract. Defour, Brady, Lennon and Gibson will be back to full fitness and Wells will be the prodigal son returned.
Maybe a young left back as cover for Taylor.
If you think like this any signings will be a bonus. Expext too much and you'll always be disappointed.

I just expect a central midfielder. Adams/Roofe to push Crouch to 5th choice is a bonus.Firthy wrote:We don't need to sign anyone. He's a LB which is an area we'll need to fill this summer, even if it's just getting back-up for Charlie, however if funds are limited 13 million is a lot for a player who may not feature much next season, that said we should be targeting younger players which we can develop, and possibly sell on in a year or two, whatever level we're competing at.

Re: Transfer window open
If its anything like previous seasons it'll be much closer to the closing of the transfer
window afore we manage to get anyone in.
It would be good if we could get our targets in earlier but we know it's not likely to happen
nor is it likely to be those on who are top of our wanted list.

I'd hope all 3 NL, we've needed new players for the last 2 years, and ones who are going to improve our starting 11. Unfortunately we've had the delights of squad players. This needs to change this summer or I can see a long hard 2019/20 season ahead.NL Claret wrote:When you say we desperately need new players, is that UTC posters/fans or the club?

New LB as cover for Taylor
New CM for Cork
New CF for bench.
Wouldn't expect much else unless any first team regulars leave.
Big difference next season is that we will have an uninterrupted pre-season. Don't think too many changes will take place. Those who crave big money signings will be left disappointed and cry all transfer window on UTC.
