Date we sign him, price and position he plays.

Going to go centre half, out of contract on 28th July.

Guessing at Cahill or a similar player.

Good shout.
We need someone to come on for a few minutes, after Wood and Barnes have wrecked the centre backs!

Peter crouch free, be like a new signing. Fits right into Dyches anti-football philosophy.

You might think I'm going mad as it could seem crazier than the Messi prediction, but I actually think we might sign someone for the first team before we start back for pre season!

(So i mean a new, not a re-sign , and not one for the development teams )

We've had 3 windows now of getting burnt a dilly dallying, I think this one might be 5th time lucky.
Especially as we've not had the usual lower expectations speil yet about tough markets, fees, wages and how even the newly promoted teams are ahead of us.

We can’t sign Charlie Adam and Che Adams...there’ll be absolute pandemonium on here.

Especially if they both play against Barnsley in a ore season friendly

At east one signing will be from Boro now that Pulis has gone.
Maybe one or two from this list

George Friend
Paddy McNair
George Saville
Jonathan Howson
Britt Asssombalonga

Good player ages, good source (player location), good club connections.

The Burnley Express have weighed in with their list of possible additions. We have been linked to a few of them before and others are currently riding on the rumour fuelled merry go round. Although a couple of them are out of the blue.

GK Simon Mignolet
GK Scot Carson

RB Rodrigo Soares

CB Gary Cahill
CB Joe Worrall

CM Josh Brownhill
CM Ben Pearson

LW Solly March

RW Jarrod Bowen

AM Adrien Thomasson

ST Guven Yalchin
ST Che Adams
ST Jay Rodriguez

Fingers crossed they are wide of the mark with most of those names.

A new second choice keeper might be added, but I think it would be an unwise move when we take into account the difficulty a player can have hitting the ground running in a new team and how vital our last line of defence is to us.

Mingolet has been looking to move for awhile, but even if Liverpool finally let him go ( in a deal for Pope maybe ) he could be another very expensive keeper mistake.

Scot Carson, no thanks.

Rodrigo Soares, never seen him play so I can't form an opinion if he is any good. Out of contract so he wouldn't be expensive and he could be a right midfield option. Would he get a work permit?

Gary Cahill, no thanks.

Joe Worrall, we were linked with him a couple of windows ago. I'm not sure what he has done since is enough to warrant our continued interest, given the price tag Forest might put on him. Spending a chunk of our small transfer budget on a fifth choice centre back would seem a strange move in none of our existing players leave. If they do I would want a player with a more established pedigree.

Josh Brownhill is a player that I could see here and he probably wouldn't break the bank. However, I think we should be looking to add some "raise the bar" quality to our midfield instead of supporting what we have with more of the same.

Ben Pearson. Definitely not, Mr walking red card should stay at Preston. The lad can play a bit, but he is a live powder keg and being able to play doesn't do a team any good if a player is suspended from duty. In the first season of Var he is the last player we should be looking at when the "powers that be" will embracing every opportunity to validate the new system. Another card filled season and no team will touch him with a barge pole, unless he is offered out for a bargain basement price.

We are dealing with fine margins and we can't risk brining him in on the belief that "Dyche will sort him out". If he gets sent off that will take us down to ten men and that could be three points down the river. A player who earned 14 yellow cards and 3 red cards this season is an accident waiting to happen again. It isn't like this is an out of character season for him either. Preston have a couple of players I could see us adding to our squad, but Pearson isn't one of them.

Solly March and Jarrod Bowen. Both of them can play, but with Lennon staying with us for another season I think we have more pressing positions to fill than another winger. However, a player that could play on the wing and in a central striking role would be a different story. I think Bowen and March would be very expensive acquisitions as well, Jarrod is very likely to attract a lot of competition.

Adrien Thomasson is a player I've only seen a tiny bit of and he has done okay this season. I could maybe see him filling a midfield utility role, but having only just joined Strasbourg I can't imagine him being cheap. The skinflint in me also finds the idea of paying a lot of money for a player who moved on a free transfer last season a little irksome. Especially when could be spending those wages on one of the many foreign " take a punt " players available on a free this season.

Guven Yalcin, at an inflated price of 5m, no thanks. 2m would be a very big risk for us.

Che Adams, yes, but I suspect he will be eye wateringly expensive and we could waste an awful lot of valuable time chasing after him to no effect.

Jay Rodriguez, he has done okay this season and Dowling was half touting him out prior to the start of the last transfer window. The price they were asking last summer was ludicrous. Any money that we might be looking to spend on him would disappear down the plug hole and we might as well look at it as cash added to his wages, because he will have no resale value as he winds down his career.

I wouldn't rule him out completely though, because he could offer us something. If we could pick him up for 6-8m and respectable wages then I could see some value in replacing Crouch with him. Any more than that and I would leave him be. I we did make an offer on him it should be a first anf final take it or leave it offer. A repeat of our last drawn out chase would be embarrassing.

Ideally, I would like a younger and potentially better option even if it means us spending more. Callum Robinson could possibly tick our box for a young domestic striker and it would also give us an additional winger. That could make our future recruitment easier if any of our current wingers leave us at the end of next season or before.

Looking beyond the domestic market, a number of other options could be considered.

Cahill would be a great signing in terms of quality, given we play quite deep his lack of pace wouldn’t be an issue but with Gibson & Long as backups can’t see where he’d fit in, unless we maybe look at playing 3 CB....

Yep Tim, looks like he could still learn a bit too, or Camarasa at Cardiff, on loan from Real Betis with 5 goals & 4 assists, if we need Premiership experience.
If we get a decent midfielder who can score goals he's going to cost, as most seem to be on contracts till 2022/3- Vanaken at Brugge is ok, an awkward customer & a real worker.... Malinovskyi at Genk has goals & assists but a fiery temperament, Sanannier at Nimes who we've been linked with alongside Grenier at Rennes. If SD wants a bit more of a gamble then Philipp Klement at Paderborn, a free-kick specialist with 15 goals & 9 assists this season- a year left on his contract so someone's going to buy him this window, could be £4m?

We have a Paderborn follower on here I believe who might give us a personal rating on Mr Klement.

Getting anything done early is going to be a struggle. Steady and established PL players at the end of contract will be touted to every club, and we will be at the very bottom of that list. Same goes for those who have been relegated and those who didn’t come up.

We will select from what’s left. That’s just how it is for us, unless we look where no one else is looking. With our record of picking up bargains from the foreign leagues, I think we will struggle again.

I like the look of Tim and robs suggestions above. Whether anyone at the club will remains to be seen.

Centre midfielder with pace strength and an eye for a pass would be my priority tho. That’s gonna cost ALL our budget

I’ve already posted Jon Obi Mikel, on a similar thread, but Billings would be a bonus, because of his age and hunger. Not sure he’ll want to drop into the Championship.
