2019 US PGA golf

Post by exilecanada » Thu May 16, 2019 8:26 pm

Bethpage Black should be a good test for these guys, long and penal if they stray off the fairways. Abnormal amount of spring rain only made the rough more lush and thick. Greens aren’t as fast as they’d normally be and they’re more receptive again due to the rain.

Who are you guys rooting for? As usual my first choices are all they Brits in the field, particularly Fleetwood, his time has come. Before the round started I figured Keopka would be a good bet, today’s 63 hasn’t changed my mind. Those I most certainly DON’T want to win are Tiger and Spieth. Tiger because I don’t like him, Spieth because I don’t want him to complete the ‘slam’ before Rory finally conquers Augusta.

Good to see the pros get some real rough to deal with for a change, instead of being able to spray it all over the place from the tee and still have a shot to the green. I've got a tenner on Koepka so happy with today, long way to go yet though!

Koepka has laid down a marker, but Danny Lee is only a shot back, hope Fleetwood can maintain his form, but Brooks will be tough to stop now.

Oh no, no, no. 3 rounds to go, a couple of bad swings and trouble abounds. I can see -2 or -3 winning this one. Steady as you go over 4 rounds wins

This suits the longer hitters - and the greens will harden. So bigger benefit for those that drive well and long.
Personally I don't rate the power golf game. It cuts the chances of good players featuring and competing with skill.
But this is the US.

Towards the end of the second round.

Anybody on +5 or above will miss the cut including Sky's beloved Tiger thank God.

Koepka is 12 under and 7 shots clear of the field.

Koepka is making this course look easy, which it certainly isn't,6 of the top 7 are Americans, shout out for Matt Wallace -4 and just a shot behind Speith,if it wasn't for BK'S brilliance this would be a wide open tournament.

If the cut was based on the 10 shots behind rule only 18 players would be teeing up today.
Some going by BK.

Kudos to PGA of America. Bethpage Black is a perfect venue for a major championship, the organizers haven’t tried to trick it up, the course is out there in front of the players. Sure, the rough is penal due to abnormal amounts of spring rain, let nature decide the scores. As in all levels of golf, hitting the fairway from the tee is job one, so far Koepka has done a good job of hitting fairways. Maybe, just maybe USGA can learn something and quit manipulating US Open venues to protect their beloved even par scores. I’m waiting for windmills and waterfalls to be added to US Open courses.

The yelling dumb NY yanks in the crowd are ruining this event.
Thick, stupid and not at all funny - just gobby. Moronic.

New York crowds have a reputation for being the worst. The next Ryder Cup is there as well which should be interesting! Can see there being some issues.

What do you expect from ‘muricans’? They get bored if they’re not running around shooting people!
