The BBC......
What's with all the Foreign themed programmes? Tuned in to the one show then the weather followed....just put a cooking programme on now....same theme. Is it some form of political correctness ?

Re: The BBC......
I miss the FA Cup final build-up programmes - once of a day we would have been over 4 hours into them by now and the anticipation for the game would be ramping up, it was essential viewing for any football fan.
I find it bizarre that in a time of saturation coverage it has disappeared and taken the joy of the cup with it

The BBC had a foreign language film on last week. The film wasn't even dubbed into English - it had subtitles. It made me sick.tim_noone wrote: Is it some form of political correctness ?

It is the saturation of live football that has resulted in FA Cup final day losing its appeal.Chester Perry wrote:I miss the FA Cup final build-up programmes - once of a day we would have been over 4 hours into them by now and the anticipation for the game would be ramping up, it was essential viewing for any football fan.

30 years ago there was minimal live football so getting a full day of build up was very special. Now we get hours of build up to multiple games every week so its nothing to get excited by.
IMO its also one reason why the FA Cup lost its major appeal in general more so than the things often cited like Man Utd dropping out. Again before Sky and the Premier League the FA Cup was the main competition where we got live games so the FA Cup weekends became special
Given a choice would I rather be able to watch every Burnley match plus pretty much any other live game I want and have a devalued FA Cup or go back to watching the scores update on teletext but get all excited by FA Cup final day I would 100% choose the former
A good example of this kind of thing is Sport Personality of the year. Back in the 80's it was great to see the review of the year of sport as a lot of it you wouldnt have seen before but now its just cheesy and dated because every sporting event has had wall to wall coverage and been discussed to death at the time of the event

Personally find a full day of build up when you don’t support either team bores me to tears.

One of the better TV series at present is "Follow the Money" - Danish with English sub-titles. Worth a watch!Billy Balfour wrote:The film wasn't even dubbed into English - it had subtitles.

Re: subtitles.
It's difficult to focus on the TV pictures when you're so close to the screen because you're following the words with your finger end!

Re: The BBC......
BBC gave 7 hours to cover FA Cup final (most of Football Focus, then programme about FA Cup and finally The Match). Seriously, that is way too much!

It's not been the same since they dropped Stuart Hall'S Cup Final Day "It's a knockout!"

Re: The BBC......
I'm convinced there's a chunk of the UK population (my Dad included) that enjoy getting home from work, turning on the TV and spending an hour seething at the BBC. Seriously lads, life's too short to be flapping about whether Reeta Chakrabarti is reading the news based on merit or skin colour.
