İstanbul Başakşehir
Neck and neck with Galatasaray on the exact same points joint top but Gala with the better goal difference. Drew with one another earlier in the season.
2 games left. Starting tomorrow with Galatasaray vs İstanbul Başakşehir in what will probably decide it!
Be interested to see how they get on especially after our game with them. Not that Galatasaray are half the team they have been. Still have a top coach though.

Seems an awful long time ago now. I know it's been done to death but the half arsed way we went out against Olympiakos still rankles.

And still it is utter drivel to think that.

It's not though is it because we fielded a weakened team out in Athens.Bin Ont Turf wrote:And still it is utter drivel to think that.

Dirty, smelly foreigners.
Re: İstanbul Başakşehir
Doesn't really need explaining. We went into an extremely tough away game with a keeper who was pretty much playing his first game for nearly a year and a centre back pairing who'd played together once before whilst our first choice centre halves sat twiddling their thumbs on the bench.

I don't know how we came through that tie, we barely had a kick of the ball in either game, completely dominated at home by Emre, proper footballer.

Please do name the first choice 'centre halves' on the bench that night.jrgbfc wrote:Doesn't really need explaining. The captain of the club playing in goal after a long time, oh my goodness, what a travesty.

That game was crying out for our regular partnership of Mee and Tarkowski at the back. I know plenty of people won't accept it but Dyche made a complete balls up of that tie.Bin Ont Turf wrote:Please do name the first choice 'centre halves' on the bench that night.

Mee wasn't even in the squad and Long played pretty well.jrgbfc wrote:That game was crying out for our regular partnership of Mee and Tarkowski at the back. I know plenty of people won't accept it but Dyche made a complete balls up of that tie.
Dyche made a complete balls up in the cup at Man City, not at Olympiacos.

Re: İstanbul Başakşehir
I seem to recall that we matched them in the 1st half which ended 1-1 then, after some alleged shenanigans involving the Greek owner entering the referee's changing room at half time, we had Gibson sent off soon after the start of the second half and lost 3-1 in the end.jrgbfc wrote:Doesn't really need explaining. However we could, and probably should, have battered them out of sight in the home leg. That Vokes miss right at the start was only the 1st of a veritable catalogue of good chances.

Re: İstanbul Başakşehir
Seriously or fishing ? We went down all guns blazing and I’ve not seen so many missed chances at the turf before . Over there we were shafted somewhat by the dodgy ref the owner ,30 odd mins with 10 men , disallowed goal , pen etc etc and don’t believe for a min we fielded a sh1t side , we didn’tjrgbfc wrote:Seems an awful long time ago now. Finished 2-1 to Galatasaray which confirms the title. Massive bottle job by Basaksehir who were eight points clear just a few weeks back.

Re: İstanbul Başakşehir
İstanbul Başakşehir have faded badly since Demba Ba was injured - just 5 points from 6 games whilst Galataseray have taken 16 from their last 6 which, after today's win gives them the title as they are 3 points clear with 1 game to play and a better head to head record - which is the tie-breaker in the Turkish Superlig

I did wonder at all the cars going down the street honking their horns and people sticking their heads out the window singing. This will explain that.
