Astonishing claims on " BRFCS " ....
Someone claiming on " BRFCS " , t' Roverrs message Board that Andy Holt, owner of Accrington Stanley initially tried to buy Burnley FC, but his bid was turned down, so he bought Stanley instead ..
Secondly, that Jack Walker lent Burnley FC the money to pay the wages in April 1987, just prior to the " Orient game " ....
I suspect very few Clubs have had their recent history researched, picked apart and written about as much as the " Clarets " has in the past 20 years and I've read a lot of it. I strongly suspect both claims have no foundation, although I stand to be corrected ....

If Holt tried to buy us, he seems to have forgotten about it.

Re: Astonishing claims on " BRFCS " ....
He doesn't say he tried to buy Burnley, just that he tried to buy into Burnley, that could mean anything from just one share up. Find the '87 wage claim somewhat unbelievable, firstly how would that stop us from going nonleague? There was also the directors plan to buy out Cardiff if it went wrong, so no non league and would also suggest there was still some money available.

Anything is possible. I have heard we have helped Stanley with ££££ in the past

I believe Blackburn Rovers were the first club to send congratulations after we'd beaten Orient but the Walker money takes some believing. It wasn't until 1991 that it became apparent that he was putting money into Blackburn.Clarets4me wrote:Secondly, that Jack Walker lent Burnley FC the money to pay the wages in April 1987, just prior to the " Orient game "

If there was an offer from the Walkers, my money would be on Jack’s brother and partner in Walker Steel, who was a Burnley fan. (Their best friend at school became my dads closest friend). The sale of the club to ASDA was to pay off money owed and raise a fighting kittyClaretTony wrote:I believe Blackburn Rovers were the first club to send congratulations after we'd beaten Orient but the Walker money takes some believing. Surely no one can take this wages story seriously ? Their forum is peopled by depressed alcoholics , tramps, fantasists and horse botherers.

My favourite is "Ewood Park the Cradle of English Football"
Now here is someone obsessed with Burnley FC and a hatred bordering on the pathalogical and he has to have the biggest persecution complex ever seen

I'm honestly a bit surprised to hear that there was a plan at all

I can’t believe people go on brfcs, even to gloat! They’re so far beneath us at the moment that we should just ignore them!
