They will surely hold us to ransom, for an eye watering £25!

No they haven't, but they do need a trip to Specsavers.Vegas Claret wrote:and how many of those were scored by Tarks or Mee ? Our defenders have square heads

joking aside, they are so good and accurate defensively so it's a surprise how many times they fail to hit the target at the other endCnBtruntru wrote:No they haven't, but they do need a trip to Specsavers.

Re: Good grief ! - Dawson again
With the amount of defending we have to do we need Tarkowski's ability as a minimum. I don't see Dawson having that quality.
Re: Good grief ! - Dawson again
If say, we sell Tarks for 40mil and buy Dawson for 15m, we have weakened the backline but brought in a replacment. The only way this is a good deal is if that the other 25mil go towards the striker or centre midfield player we need.
If we can get an upgrade somewhere else and get an experienced head like Dawson in, who has always had ok reviews and is clearly wanted by Dyche, I'm happy.
(The above needs to be as well as the other 4-5 signings I'd want )

Re: Good grief ! - Dawson again
I would say the issue is they are good at defensive headers away, but not as target men to put a bullet header into the back of the net, it's as much natural skill as technique and I don't think either has that natural skill and I think this is probably where Dawson would be an asset.Vegas Claret wrote:joking aside, they are so good and accurate defensively so it's a surprise how many times they fail to hit the target at the other end

No they haven't....but they head, upwards, as though they are defending, instead of downwards, like a striker.CnBtruntru wrote:No they haven't, but they do need a trip to Specsavers.

This would be great for us. Weaken Brighton and we keep an excellent player.Reecey1987 wrote:Were will he be going ? It looks like brighton signing clarke from portsmouth with dunk going to leicster

Re: Good grief ! - Dawson again
Surely if the fees being mentioned of 90m for Maguire and up to 40m for Dunk these buying clubs will just simply go abroad and sign someone who is better and cheaper, that is how it works isn't it ?
We get told on here often enough that foreign is better or is it just some fans on here with this obsession of needing to sign someone with a foreign name.

Re: Good grief ! - Dawson again
The thing with signing foreign players, is that the same potential quality will undoubtably be cheaper - however it's a gamble whether they adapt or not. Inflated British signings guarantee adaptability, but with little/no sell on profit at these prices.
Re: Good grief ! - Dawson again
If they pay more than £8m for a 29 yo defender with one year left on his contract, then all those experts who say BFC is a financially well-managed club will be joining Boris in the dock!
