Podcasts?
Never listened to any but thinking of starting to have a laugh and also broaden my horizons and for learning on subjects I normally wouldnt think of.
Knowing the posters and the wealth of knowledge on here does anyone have any good suggestions?

Re: Podcasts?
Guardian football weekly is good, as is the totally football show
Non football wise, if depends on what you like, but the WWII one with Al Murray and James Holland is excellent

Re: Podcasts?
If you want a broad range of subjects discussed then “The Joe Rogan Experience” is your go to podcast.
He just gets people from all walks of life who are experts in things from ancient civilisations to boxing or dieting or politics and just chats with them or has them tell their life stories if they are fascinating.
If you want sports ones then look up
- The Magic Sponge with Dave
They get ex footballer to talk about all the stories they couldn’t whilst playing of the nights out and the bust ups etc.... there’s even one with Glen Little who has stories of his time at Burnley.
- Undr The Kosh (spelt that way)
Same as Magic Sponge but lesser known players
I also like the podcast called Things they don’t want you to know which just goes over all the leaked info which has been hidden away and they talk about things such as declassified experiments etc ....
There are loads and it just depends what sort of stuff you’re into.

Re: Podcasts?
I use Castbox - downloaded from the app store. Plenty to choose from - listened to all the Peter Crouch ones which are pretty entertaining. Also listening to (for about the 4th time) the Ricky Gervais / Steve Merchant / Karl Pilkington podcasts and XFM radio shows - highly hilarious but not to everyones tastes.

I also like true crime stuff and “Case File” is brilliant for that fix.

I think the Joe Rogan one works well for that as you’re guaranteed to learn something from them which you never thought you would.Cleveleys_claret wrote:Cheers will add them....just after listening to something else in the gym other than music and at work for the long shifts
The football ones I mentioned will have you laughing though. The Graham Stack one is just ....... well, you’ll have to listen

Athletico mince with Bob Mortimer, some of the stuff is filler but some of it is absolutely hilarious.

Re: Podcasts?
If you want something that brings you into the world of podcasts with a bang try Serial Season 1. It is The box set of the podcast world and the makers voice is difficult to resist.
Re: Podcasts?
For some knock about stuff that deals with some really interesting subjects, I like ‘stuff you should know’ there’s a huge back catalogue to work through

If you’re into gaming, Kinda Funny Games, if you’re into PlayStation, Sacred Symbols.
If you like pop culture and nostalgia I highly recommend CLS: Knockback. This show every week focuses on a different pop culture/life experience from the 80s and 90s. It could focus on Star Wars toys, School Dinners or Skateboarding. Anything, basically.

Just started listening to this. Hooked already. I would recommend Paradise from the BBC which follows a similar idea.Guppyspotter wrote:If you want something that brings you into the world of podcasts with a bang try Serial Season 1. Re: Podcasts?
After serial season 1, there's season 2 which follows the story of a US Soldier walked off his post in Afghanistan. Series 3 hangs around the courts and for a tale so bizarre you couldn't make it up there's S Town which is a lot shorter (8 episodes I think) but incredible.

For those that listen to these. I have just listened to a series of podcasts by Clinton Baptiste. The psychic off Phoenix Nights. Very funny if you like that kind of thing.

Re: Podcasts?
I have a long commute and listen to loads of podcasts:
Set Piece Menu - this is a really interesting football podcast about issues and concepts rather than recent action. Work through the back catalogue.
Football Ramble - good for a roundup of the action but the recent interviews have been outstanding, Horncastle, Wilson, Brassell and Kelly are all interesting listens. Who knew that Kelly started Football365 and its infamous forum? The OTC spin off is decent as well.
The Luke and Pete Show - random lad ****.
Popular Front - low-fi coverage of conflicts not being covered widely.
The Butterfly Effect and follow up, The Last Days of August. Like listening to Theroux talk about the porn industry.
The Red Box Podcast - I'm left of centre but this is a better listen than the Guardian Politics Weekly. Chorley is engaging and scornful of the current state of politics across the spectrum.

Re: Podcasts?
Top Flight Time Machine- absolutely hilarious, started off as it implies reviewing the premier league years in a comedic manner but has just descended into total madness! Really worth a listen for the Roy Keane Odyssey and the World Cup reviews.
The Bugle- satirical look at the news on a weekly basis. Really funny but not particularly a source of news!
The history of Rome- really interesting and bite size chunks teaching about the formation of Rome right through to its implosion.

S Town - By the makers of Serial.
Re: Podcasts?
Bumping this thread after a while to recommend 'Quickly Kevin Will He Score', 90s football podcast. If you are of the right age you'll love this.

Re: Podcasts?
Listening to Hardcore Histories at the minute. Pretty intense but very informative.
Re: Podcasts?
Thesinglebiggestexpressionofdemocracyeverseeninthiscountry by Paul from Burnley featuring his alter ego Betty.
It's a bit repetitive, and there are strange gaps in
the transmission
when Paul is talking
But that's the only way you know it's him speaking and not Elizabeth. Their accents are suspiciously similar.
