At the age of 43 finally announces his retirement. Some career, good luck to the guy.

One of our worst keepers. Made the simplest of saves, an acrobatic miracle. Thinnest, disappearing mass on every one to one.

I’d rather forget his cameos, running back to his line in the jog pants from the half way line

Kicking the post while Sheff Wednesday scored a penalty. That sums him up.

You've proved countless times on the board that you don't have a clue about goalkeeping so you now suggest a 100 cap international is the worst we've had.

I gave up with you on goalkeepers when you gave Lee Grant 3 in the player ratings at Watford after a 3-1 win and said it was because he should have saved Drinkwater's shot in the first minute, this a shot that went wide.

Kiraly worst keeper, absolute nonsense.

I recall a pen at Stoke hitting the post, coming back and hitting him and rebounding in. Someone on the message board blamed him because had he dived the other way it wouldn't have happened.

I checked. Kicking the posts isn't on it. Maybe the ref was a bit lax. But it was within the gift of Hungary's leading Charlie Cairoli impersonator to make that irrelevant.

No, the referee was not a bit lax, he got it 100% wrong. One of his duties at a penalty is to ensure the goalkeeper is ready to face it. He should not under any circumstances have blown for that penalty to be taken.

Danny Coyne. That was the Welsh keeper, who was not very good at all, despite SC raving about him.

Think it was a case of not liking Beast, so every other keeper was magnified to world star, in his eyes.

Grant, I saw, plag a blinder against Villa, in the League Cup. Stole Beasts place and was never the same quality, thereafter.

A very tidy 25 yr career playing 800+ games for numerous prem clubs, bundesliga etc inc 100+ international caps . While never a world beater it’s a career he can be immensely proud of .

In fairness he was no better or worse than beast imo, though not as good as Grant technically

Danny Coyne was one of the best in the championship for years before he joined us. Sadly due to injuries it was not meant to be for him at Burnley

Kiraly didn't play much for us and I can't say I have any thoughts/memories on how good he was either way.

Lee Grant though? He was gash, and I know I am in the minority on that so people can have a go! I cannot believe he cost us a million quid (or just under, from Wednesday). Kiraly was better than him, then again most goalkeepers know that when you make a save you should try and push the ball wide and not 3 yards in front of you begging for the tap in.

I don't mind saying my opinion that before Tom Heaton, I think our most consistent keeper prior was probably Paul Crichton. Michopoulos, Beresford Round 2, Jensen, Coyne, Grant, Kiraly, Penny (think there's a few I am missing) were all bang average at the very best. We certainly had a long stretch of mediocrity after Beresford (first time round) and Crichton.

No - two very serious knee injuries, the second of which was close to ending his playing career altogether.

For bad Burnley keepers try Mark Kendall, I remember his debut at Chesterfield, fortunately not very well!

I was young at the time but one of my lasting memories of Paul Crichton was how far up the pitch he'd get when the action was in the oppositions final third. I swear he was near the centre circle at one stage.

Oh dear yes Mark Kendall came as a goalkeeping coach under JM didn't he, had a disastrous game at Blackpool when I think we lost 5-2 I thought it was his debut as well but not certain.

Any way good luck to Gabor Kiralyi in his retirement after a very long career.

Joe Neenan, Mark Kendall, Roger Hansberry, Penny of Peru off the top of my head. It seemed a hell of a capture when we got him, in the state we were in. I remember being quite impressed he was willing to join us

I stood to applaud and the guy next to me screamed 'kin'ell Grant you useless c*nt'. Not quite sure what he was expecting but it's funny how some players can divide opinion.

He was bloody awful. I'll always remember that shot he went all 'Massimo Taibi' on at home to wolves when we had a very faint chance of reaching the play offs. As for coyne, he was a decent keeper before us but again was gash for us. I don't think we won many games when he was in goal.

The difference between Jensen and the likes of Kiraly, Coyne, Grant?
Jensen was a poor keeper who put in some extremley good performances and for one year consistently performed like that week in week out, the others were average keepers who performed averagely. I remember Grant having a good run but was he any better than Beast on his day?

I remember the forum vilifying Gabor for that, as much as a howler it was, the defence in front of him were static.

Kendall played at Chesterfield on NYD didn't he? And against Derby in the fogged off game. Clean sheet at Chesterfield, didn't cover himself in glory at Derby (neither did Pearce in the rescheduled game) and then had his mare at Blackpool.

He has been a decent keeper in his time. I will refrain from my usual disagreement with CT over the Hansbury V Neenan debate, as every time it happens CT gets it wrong :D

I think we will agree to disagree but Neenan & Pearce will remain the worst two I’ve seen play regularly.

You are spot on with Kendall making his debut at Chesterfield. He played in the first two games against Derby and then the nightmare at Blackpool.

Kendall had been a really good goalkeeper but he’d retired and was brought in by Mullen to coach. Mullen, for whatever reason, chose to play him. That day at Blackpool was his last ever game.

I remember going down to London on a Friday ready for the match against qpr on the Saturday. Danny coyne was in our goal. He went to clear the ball missed it completely and qpr scored into the empty net whilst coyne was down on the floor. He received treatment and was stretched off. Remember saying at the time I've never seen a keeper get subbed with embarrassment. Little did I know how serious his injury was at the time.
