Re: ARTICLE: Early speculation centres on goalkeepers and defenders
Unless the club are playing their cards extremely tight to their chest, no bad thing for me.
It looks like the fans concerns regarding CM are not SD and Riggs priorities.
A fit Defour and a move back inside for Hendrick would give us 4 CMs and we could breathe easier but a powerful ball winner would be my first signing.

It's a strange sort of career Anders Lindegaard has had:

When he played earlier in the season he looked pretty capable and reliable.
Whilst I'm sure financially he will have done OK it's not the sort of career to be proud of.

I thought he looked very confident and assured in one of the European games I saw online, and seems to have had some success in Scandinavia where he comes from.
Surprised he's been released but there again we are very well equipped in that department just now.

"Early speculation centres on goalkeepers and defenders"
Would rather it read "midfield and strikers" GK and defence is the one area we are okay with.

"A fit Defour". Well I won't hold my breath and if he ever IS declared fit it will be matter of for how long. I agree a fully fit and serviceable Deefour could save us a shed load of money, but I simply can't see it tbh.

A fully fit Defour would be like a new signing , I wouldn’t say no to a match fit Brady and Lennon either though possible 1 or 2 of the 3 will leave which is probably the way forward . I know Steven does a lot of work for Twix and Bovril so simply fitting his training around his other commitments could be tricky

I love Steven Defour.
But anybody hoping for a “fit Steven Defour” appearing in our team again .... well, if you believe that can happen then I have some magic beans you may be interested in buying.
He looked done when he came back last season. After another injury and long break, there’s just no way he’ll get back to that level. That’s based on his age, his lay-off and his record over his whole career.
Love him. But he’s done and we need to move on or accept we’ll be short for the season in central midfield. Again.

As for centre half. If Tarks goes, would much prefer the stop gap of cahill than forking out for dawson. For any number of reasons.

I predict Nick Pope will sign a long-term deal.

Defour is finished.
We need to push the boat out and get a strong tackling CM who can thread a pass and carry the ball.
If the likes of Leicester turn Tarkowski head and the fee is right he will have to go. Cahill would be a great replacement with his experience

Re: ARTICLE: Early speculation centres on goalkeepers and defenders
Well it does seem that with Pope signing a new contract and the talk of us going in for Dawson, that SD is wanting to get the defence sorted asap.
It will then leave us the rest of the window to improve midfield/attack.

Re: ARTICLE: Early speculation centres on goalkeepers and defenders
Seems like a quiet weekend for speculation/rumours. Are we expecting a bid to go in for Dawson this week? Surely there'll be an announcement about Crouch one way or another soon as well.
