I'd no idea he was on, I'd have gone.

It was great. Tickets sold out almost immediately in November.ClaretTony wrote:I'd no idea he was on, I'd have gone.
Surprised not more has been said about this though I do remember a post in November last year about it.

It was a one man show about his life and career. Very interesting and some great performances of some of his roles from various plays.Goobs wrote:Music or stand-up?
No microphone either he just projected his voice from the stage like a true pro.

Cool, bet he has some stories to tell, I don't know masses about him but he has certainly taken on some varying roles throughout his career and whenever I have seen him interviewed he always comes across very well.ClaretAndJew wrote:It was a one man show about his life and career. I saw an interview with him not too long ago when he said they'd put a blue plaque on the house in Burnley where he was born. He'd been to see it and said they'd put it on the wrong house.

He did a matinee performance in the afternoon as a fundraiser for Burnley Youth Theatre. I’m involved in the charity so was there in an official capacity before watching him perform.
I’ve got to say that he is possibly the loveliest person i’ve ever met. Warmth just shines out from his face and he spent time going round and talking to all the volunteers and youth members and saying such heartwarming and inspiring things to them. He wanted to know everything about the theatre and seemed genuinely impressed with the work we do.
And his show ... man. So funny and fascinating and emotional. To do two performances in a day at 80, and he hung around at the matinee for photographs and chats with everybody still there .... inspiring stuff.

As I donated I shook his hand and just said thank you.Socrates wrote:He did a matinee performance in the afternoon as a fundraiser for Burnley Youth Theatre. I’m involved in the charity so was there in an official capacity before watching him perform.

The Mechanics Theatre sticker in the centre of his box lid. Awesome.
His performances made me emotional and I'm not normally like that.

Was the head boy at the school I attended in the late fifties and was well liked then.
He obviously has not changed by his success and fame.
