She will be remembered for losing the files to the pedo rings.
Destroying the Police force.
Bending over backwards to the EU and making a pigs ear of Brexit.
The only good thing she did was hold Donald Trumps hand so he didn't fall down the steps.

And there's the issue. A load of this **** has come about because actions were being done for the sake of the Tory Party and the fear of its members rather than because it was best for the country.dsr wrote:It'll have to be a Brexiteer for the sake of the Tory party. Because all those votes that have defected to the Brexit party - if there isn't a Brexit supporter at the helm when the next general election comes round, then many of them won't come back.
I expect it will be Boris. The MPs won't dare to leave him off the final two ballot (unless they can find a bit of dirty on him, and they can find a suitable Brexiteer candidate to put on the paper) and he would win the members' vote. If not him, then either Javid or Raab.

We've got one set of people seen in the streets of Burnley on Tuesday singing Oh Tommy Tommy,
Another lot that sign Ohhhhhh Jeremy Corbyn,
Next we'll have a third lot singing Let's go BoJo Let's Go!
Who needs football for the summer when you can replace it with Politics and potential for Anarchy?

For anyone who is tempted to have sympathy for her, this article is worth a read. It reminds us of all her many failings, (not just brexit) and pretty much sums up my feelings and those of many. However the final paragraph is the bit that nails it.

It's got the usual thing which is much more prevalent among the left, that the writer thinks she is evil rather than just wrong. OK, she disagrees with the writer; she disagrees with lots of people including me. So do many politicians - Corbyn, for example. But I bet there are a lot more people willing to believe that May is evil than there are willing to believe that Corbyn is evil - just as there were many more willing to believe Thatcher was evil and Kinnock wasn't.nil_desperandum wrote:For anyone who is tempted to have sympathy for her, this article is worth a read. Which leads to milkshakes, disregard of referenda, and other anti-democratic behaviour. Some people need to accept that, as the BBC might put it, "other opinions are available".

How anyone can compare May with Thatcher needs their head looking at. Thatcher was the best PM in my lifetime and I am nearly 60. May will go down has a complete failure and will only be remembered for totally screwing up the Brexit negotiations.

Re: May quits
I actually feel very bad for her. I think she served out of a sense of patriotic duty and felt she was the only one who could deliver Brexit without it being a disaster. She was wrong, sadly, but I think that's because of the behavior of both sides of Parliament, to be honest. I think people forget that she voted to Remain.
I don't ally myself with the Tories at all, but who is any better? The Tories will inevitably elect a hardcore Brexiteer next who will have absolutely zero chance of getting anything passed through Parliament and will be inclined to allow a hard Brexit by default in October - which would be a disaster for the country.
I know this will be unpopular to say, but I don't think this is good news for the country at all, save for those who feel a hard Brexit is a good idea.

I'm not a massively political animal and I tend not to comment on political threads, but I do feel rather sorry for the ill dressed frumpy old bird. To me she inherited a no win situation, made worse by those on all sides around her who have been deliberately awkward and self serving, but she's stuck at it far longer than most would have. IMO it wouldn't have mattered who was in the job and it wont matter who takes over, they are pretty much destined to fail in the current climate.

Hard to feel sorry for the woman who was behind the deportation of hundreds of British citizens who'd lived here all their lives, or sent round vans telling foreign people to "go home". As well as the shocking cuts to the police force and the misery she and her party have inflicted on the poorest in our society. Have I missed anything else?

Fair point, but surely not many others fancied it and they knew exactly what a poisoned chalice it was, so fair play to her for having a go and also for sticking it so long in the face of plenty of abuse and obstruction. Taking it on when she did was tantamount to political suicide and others wouldn't stick their heads up. May's not been great by any stretch of the imagination, but as I said I don't think anyone would have been, or indeed will be. The numbers in Parliament won't change until there's a general election.
If it gets toward the end of October and "no deal" looks like the default position, then MPs will take it into their own hands, as they did with May, and if the PM / cabinet don't listen, then there'd be sufficient numbers to defeat the PM in a vote of confidence. There are a small hardcore of Tories with loud voices shouting for no deal / WTO trading terms, but they are outnumbered massively by other Tory MPs who know that a "no deal" would be ruinous for jobs in their constituencies and the economy as a whole, and they would use every means possible to avoid the financial calamity of "no deal", ensure our national security and preserve the Belfast Agreement, (which at the end of the day is an International Treaty to which we are signatories).
