My memories of that day at Wembley and I still can't believe it is ten years ago

He’s my good friend but my god he looks young there. No wonder he’s still so immature :-)

Cracking day, it was saved by a lucky tomato plant that one of my very passionate comrades purchased from te nearby lidl or Aldi at the Sheff Utd end of the ground. Good memories... great day. Thanks CT.

The best £1 I've ever spent.
I warned all those Sheff utd fans before the game that they had no chance due to the lucky plant. To my shock and surprise they didnt listen, in fact I was roundly mocked and jeered by the Yorkshire faithful...how rude.

I'll never forget the look on the young steward's face as he searched me, put his hand inside my jacket pocket and pulled out the plant. I asked him "are plants banned?" He had no idea what to say; and so into the stadium I went. The rest is history.

I loved that plant.

P.S it was definitely Aldi.

The local constabulary were more than accommodating at Euston as they waited for me to reach the top of the escalator. How was I to know I was running up the 'down' escalator..? I thought it took a while.

Anyone else would have been escorted to paddington green.... I however, still had my lucky plant.

You are so right Tony "you can't beat a Wembley win" those defeats in 1962 and 1988 were awful and for sure had we lost in 2009 it would have been as bad as it was in 1962; I suppose 1988 was less of a downer. Unfortunately I missed the 94 game as I was away in Florida but was bricking it waiting until it was likely over before ringing the UK to get the score and of course as I posted on another thread 10 years and about half a billion pounds later Sheff Utd have just got back to where they wanted to be in 2009 and if the roles had ben reversed, would we have ever got back to the top flight?

Excellent read CT. Difficult to sum up my emotions at the final whistle. We achieved something that I also never envisaged happening in my life time. However my abiding memory will always be of the euphoria quickly evaporating, before we got back to Wembley Park. Rumours were already spreading that Coyle could be on his way to Celtic. However unfounded they may have been I found it totally disrespectful given what we'd just achieved. These persisted for quite a while after and took the edge off our celebrations.

I genuinely felt for Sheff Utd that day, and they went on a bad journey thereafter, one which I am sure we would have also gone on, I am not so certain we would have made it back though. It's insane to think we have made so much money and come so far in 10 years, as a kid it was my dream to see us back in the big time. Everytime I go on the Turf I nip myself just in case.

Really chuffed for the Blades getting up, and can't wait for the trip to Bramall Lane. Great ground and great atmosphere, it was one of the first away games my dad took me to over the snakes pass.

Already looking forward to the new season.

I reckon Derby will be going on a similar bad journey; they sold their ground to Mel Morris for £80m and only made a £14m profit over last season. It looks like they have no flex left, especially if Frankie boy goes to Chelsea. Happy days. :D

I have been to both play- off finals and also the Sherpa Van final. All were incredible for different reasons.

Really good read.

The lady of the house was having a wardrobe clear out yesterday and there was the play off scarf - it didn't get thrown out!
