Gateshead Football Club
The future doesn’t look good for a club who were in the Football League sixty years ago. They have just one registered player, have had 9 points deducted from their final total but, worse still, have had their National League licence revoked for 2919/20. If they fail with their appeal they will drop at least two levels.
Statement from the league.
The club was charged with multiple breaches of the League’s membership rules, and was subject to a review of its financial position and an assessment of its club licence.
Gateshead FC has been found guilty of failing to obtain security of tenure over its ground, defaulting on football creditors, and breaching League rules concerning financial reporting and permitted loans.
The club has had 9 points deducted from its playing record for the 2018/19 season and been fined £3,500.
The National League table has been amended accordingly.
Furthermore, the club has been suspended from the competition and the League has refused the club a licence for the 2019/20 season.
Notes:
The club has the right of appeal to The Football Association.
The 68 clubs constituting the membership of The National League will be confirmed at the Annual General Meeting on 8th June 2019.

8th June as per the note. I would suspect Aldershot would be spared relegation.Tricky Trevor wrote:Who will get their place in NL? Decisions need making sharpish.

Re: Gateshead Football Club
It's not long ago we had a player out on loan to the heed, just struggling to remember who it was. There's been nowt but bother at that club over the past few years, what with having to play at Hartlepool for a while, the owners unwilling to put anymore money in, nobody of note wanting to take it on. The list is endless. Gateshead stadium is a dreadful place for football, without having a place to call their own, they were always going to struggle.

I know a bit about the history of that club. All I will say is you would be surprised how much money is needed to run a club even at that level. As stated above though it doesn’t help when you don’t own your own ground.

Frequent reading of the Newcastle Chronicle and the Journal over the years will have given anyone enough of an education that there have been many issues. It's sad, but the end has been nigh for some time.Blackrod wrote:‘...the owners unwilling to put more money in...’

It needs a local to rescue them.
Gazza has been spotted heading over the Tyne Bridge with a fishing rod and a family bucket of KFC.

Re: Gateshead Football Club
Steve Watson ex-Newcastle managed them until February when results on the field were good. However Gateshead Stadium (athletics) is a lousy place to watch and play football, windy and the few supporters are miles away from the pitch with the athletics track in between.

Who was the former Newcastle starlet that I think Eddie signed but Sean inherited. Played exclusively for the development squad up front but did nothing and went back to the north east?

Sad for Gateshead, which is a big town on the wrong side of the football river
Re: Gateshead Football Club
On reading the Newcastle news, this morning, perhaps it is Gateshead which need the Sheikh up!

Re: Gateshead Football Club
They have had a lot of problems this season and I thought that when Mike Coulson resigned there had to be some good reasons because he had been at the club for 30 years and hasa great reputation within the game. A short time after he resigned this article was published in the Sunderland Echo
