Lab and Cons are getting absolutely destroyed everywhere.

Which is great (Manchester seems to have remained Lab, and Liverpool too but that is about it)

What is good to see is that the far right UKIP party has been told where to go in most places so far.

Not sure why the talking heads are pretending to be so surprised by the death of UKIP and rise of BREXIT party.

Just a rebranding and 'New Coke' has been left out to dry.

Not a surprise, but I'm slightly relieved.

Just like I am that UKIP vote has transferred almost en masse to the Brexit Party.

Both of them totally toxic, while the Brexit Party isn't that way 100% yet.

Always was going to be a grinning Farage tomorrow.

I tend to look beyond the gurning and at the actual figures.

As has already been said, all this means is that the country is still split down the middle, so the issues remain and the lack of anything to sort it continues.

You would think they would pick up Emily Thornberry's peculiar views. She thinks the democratic way is to have a second referendum, between "Remain" or "Leave on May's deal"; she is clear that the 35% or so of the population who have voted tonight for "Leave with No Deal" must not be allowed to express that opinion again. It would not be on her second (or any future) referendum.

Main UK takeaway — whatever they say publicly, neither Labour nor Tory will be in a rush for a general election.
Main EU takeaway — the predicted populist surge is somewhat muted.

Some people are trying to work out where the Conservative and lab votes have gone.

Good luck with that, as if you want Brexit you've gone Brexit Party, and if you don't, you've gone Lib Dem or Green.

The % will be crucial, but if anyone in the top two parties think they can keep enough votes by going one way or the other is living in cloud cuckoo land

Looking ahead to the leadership campaign and the almost inevitable General Election it's really hard to see where the Tories go from here tbh.
They could try to be the "no deal" Brexit Party under someone like Johnson - if they think that gives them their best chance, but a whole shed-load of MPs in the south (and indeed elsewhere) will either defect to Lib Dem or stand as independents in order to try to retain their seats. And they are unlikely to pick up seats in the industrial north and midlands where it is likely to be more of a fight between Labour, (supported by remain Tories) and the BP.
It's going to be fascinating to see what vision and policies the prospective candidates put forward, and whether the MPs actually give the constituency members an ERG type option on the ballot paper.
