Oh my god, he dips his finger in the sauce to taste it.
What if he's been handling nuts?

I once spent an evening drinking with him at the Barbican in Plymouth. He had just done his first series. Needless to say that the drinks were flowing.

It's a little known fact but when he was cremated it took 3 days for the flames to die down

I would guess a few dads and lads Adopted his kitchen approach in the Kitchen though and probably still do......A glass of Red wine in hand and a Little for the stock! As opposed to laying on the sofa waiting for their women to feed them. TV cooking today's about how many rare ingredients you can add to a dish that no ones heard of.cheers Floyd!Claretitus wrote:Only ever seen him make stews!! Once saw him on TV in Northumbria with a gamekeeper cooking from memory his own version of a venison stew. His guest tasted it and said it was disgusting, Floyd said no surely not, tasted it then threw dish over his shoulder...yes your right disgusting he said.
Classic Floyd.

You don't watch Floyd for his cooking skills. You watch it to watch him. An absolute star!Claretitus wrote:Only ever seen him make stews!! Fish stew, chicken stew, beef stew, etc. Etc. Very limited repertoire in MHO.

Re: Keith Floyd
He was fun and great to watch at times. Magnetic guys full of charisma and charm.
As with other alcoholics he was also a buffoon who was so rude, aggressive and unbearable.
The documentary Keith Allen made of him only a few days before Floyd died showed both of his sides.

I’ve enjoyed cooking programmes for a couple of decades. But I’m not sure anyone can beat Nigella rigorously chopping herbs with a mezzaluna. Spilled my sauce watching.

So in answer to my original question, no, couldn't cook AT ALL, because he was plain **** at it! But boy could he drink and when squiffy he was pretty amusing. He was an extraordinarily talented, classically trained chef and years ahead of his time. Hidden behind his tv persona which was hilarious and highly watchable.Dark Cloud wrote:So in answer to my original question, no, couldn't cook AT ALL, because he was plain **** at it! Classically trained chef? Don't make me laugh!!!! As I said before, a stew was his limit.
