How about top flight ? People seem to forget there was a 1st Division for far longer than there has been a Premier League.

Derby should be on 6.

You can't be counting their 11 pointer season. :)

I suspect that next season is the one where we overtake the gross PL earnings of those who were 10 years ahead of us and if we stay up the following season we will be the leader in the whole of Lancashire

Everton are 2nd. Arsenal have been in the top flight the longest, and I think by some distance.

You're talking consecutive seasons. Everton have missed only 4 seasons since it started in 1888; Arsenal didn't get there at all until after World War 1, and even then they talked their way in after finishing 7th the season before the war. Arsenal have the longest consecutive run.

Ever presents in the Prem Tony, not the top division. They were in old second division in the 80's.

Next season will be the 28th of Premier League football, in that time 49 different Clubs have had at least one, " Season in the Sun " , that's over half the 92 Clubs that make up the top four Divisions ....

1) I wonder how that compares to other " top " European Leagues ?

2) Who will be the 50th Club, the next new name in the Premier League ? Luton, perhaps ?

Out of the teams in the Championship next season to never play in the Premier League, you have to say Bristol City have the best chance?

In fact looking at the Championship next season, if a new team were to be promoted it would be Bristol City, Brentford, PNE, Millwall or Luton.

I remember seeing a betting market for this either last pre season or the one before and being surprised. I seem to remember they had Brentford as favourites with a team like MK Dons who were a league or 2 below as 2nd Favs

Another couple of seasons ( know, that's difficult) but we would be half way up.

"You can't be counting their 11 pointer season. :)"

I keep on thinking about how they managed to do that. Some feat.

Fair play to Huddersfield; they gave it a good go but it just proved too tough for them to beat that record.

Surprised me as well.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s I always thought of Forest as a traditional Premiership club but to see that we have spent more seasons there than them is certainly a shock. Like you say, shows how hard it can be to get back and also how well we have done.

Funny stat but in each PL season where there were 3 Claret and Blue teams we got relegated, perhaps Derby coming up would have been better or time to get rid of West Ham.

Remarkable to see how many clubs have played at this level since the prem started. Puts to bed the myth of how small clubs cant get there and how hard it is to get in.

Lots of big clubs have struggled to get back. Leeds, Forest, Sheff Weds etc
