"There's going to be an EU army" , Nigel Farage June 2016.

"Nigel nigel nigel. You and I both know that the idea that there's going to be a European army is simply not true. It's a dangerous fantasy " Nick "tuition fees" Clegg June 2016.

Matter of weeks later, Jean Claude Drunker, Merkel and the rest, say exactly that!!!!!!

Arrest that man!!!!!

It will be entertaining to try and see him justify it without further incriminating himself but it's a dangerous precedent to set.[/quote]

Not sure Boris can say anything without incriminating himself, so this should be a laugh!

No need.

Did that conversation between Clegg and Farage take place in front of a live audience.?

Yes Or No?

Have plans for an EU defence force/army been announced/ discussed/ confirmed . By Merkel , Junker and Macron?

Yes Or No?

It's easy to mock. Let's see if you find it as easy to answer two simple yes / no questions.

Before you answer. Some reading material-

Rowls wrote:And here's an article explaining the disputed figures:

https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2017/10/t ... is-higher/

I think most people are aware that the gross figure is £350m. However, Johnson referred to sending the EU £350m per week which is demonstrably untrue.

The article (from the publication that Johnson used to be editor of) doesn't disprove it in any way. I'd say their reasoning is pretty shonky:

So why did Boris use the gross figure, when the convention is to use the net figure? Simple: it drives the other side quite loopy. They threaten to sue. And as they explode with anger, the discussion turns to how much of British money is spent to the EU – a conversation subject that suits Brexiteers. This tactic worked so effectively in the referendum because their opponents rose to the bait every time.

Was the £350m figure misleading? Yes, if it was spoken of as the net figure. Would the lower figure have been fairer, and got the point across just as well? Of course. But it would not have been as effective as a campaigning tool, because it would have generated less fuss.

I hope he has a better defence than that in court.

Personally I don't like the idea of private prosecutions, it's too open to abuse, but something needs to be done about the level of truthfulness in political debate at the moment. I don't care that much about politicians getting a prediction wrong or not being able to remember figures off the top of their head but when they wilfully misrepresent figures (and particularly after they have been corrected) then they need to be held to account somehow. I'm buggered if I know how though (my personal option would be that the correction has to be given the same prominence as the lie).

Who really gives a flying ... this is all about discrediting him before the leadership election and I for one couldn't care less. I didn't vote leave for any financial reasons and I expect a lot of other voters feel the same but I hope for Gods sake those remainers that can't accept a democratic vote don't start banging on again and before the 'MILLIONS WOULD HAVE VOTED DIFFERENT' crew start moaning, it wouldn't have mattered.

I like it when Brexiters get upset when people go on about one of their side lying and then start with the “what about Osbourne and Cameron?”

Like those two are hero’s to people who voted remain or something.

The establishment makes fools of themselves again and Boris gains more votes and so does leave. They are really bitter these metropolitan 'Cirizens of the world' and citizens of nowhere'.

No wonder so many voted for Brexit after years of having their communities radically changed without consultation, by ignorant self centered politicians they had their chance to make a protest and they did. And still the establishment is not listening and doesn't care.

You have misread the article- it is a fact that we send £350m a week, that is the gross figure, the amount we are obliged to send. We then get a rebate and get money back.

When you are asked how much you earn do you use the gross or net figure?

How many times did May say we were leaving the EU on the 29th March?

The figure Boris quoted isn't far from what we actually put into the EU

It’s not a fact, the rebate is applied at source. We only send the net figure.

Boris gone from 5/6 to 9/4 talk about a huge drift .This will likely scupper his chances though I’m sure the luvvies will deliver the coup de grace long before voting begins .
The timing of this is unbelievable with the main media outlets literally orgasmic over it . Will give the remainer Tories a very big stick with which to beat BoJo .

It was pretty obvious in June 2016 that there would be a leadership contest starting in May 2019.

Theresa May due to appear in the same court the following week for lying 108 times in Parliament that we would be leaving the EU on the 31 March 2019.

That must qualify for a chopper on the neck at the Tower of London, surely?

He has a point. It's a huge surprise that a landmark private prosecution wasn't paid for and tried within a day, our courts are normally so swift. It's not as if this story has been in and out of the news for the past couple of years.

That would only be a plausible argument if it weren't for the fact that this case has been flagged up for months and the dates for hearings etc. have been in the public domain for some time.
Are you suggesting that those who brought the case and those dealing with it managed to persuade May to resign last week just in rder that Johnson's case would coincide with his leadership bid?
It's may be a bit hard to believe but the timing is actually genuinely coincidental. Theresa May could have resigned back in March or hung on till October, but just happens to have gone at the time that this case was due to be heard. (What I've just posed can be verified if you look back over the past few months history of this crowdfunded legal challenge)

No fan of May, but had it been up to May then we would indeed have left on that date. It's chiefly the ERG that prevented it.

I don't think anything at all about it to be honest. I'm guessing you are not a Conservative member so it doesn't matter.

But you've come on here (and you are not the only one) with either zero knowledge about it or stuff you got off the internet that Boris mates are frantically putting out to make this look like a remain stitch up to stop him being leader.

I actually think the timing is very unfortunate, I'd prefer him to go to prison as Prime Minister, now that would be funny.

Also, for all the idiots who think this case is happening now to derail poor Boris' shot at the big job...

It is a fact that we don't send £350m a week, it isn't the amount that we are obliged to send, the rebate comes out at source before we send the money.

See, that's the trouble when politicians lie, people believe them.

Is it the word “send” that has perhaps caused the confusion? Our obligation, our contribution to the EU budget is £367m per week. Now it’s quite obvious that we don’t send a van with the cash in bags, nor do we use PayPal.

The figure is cotrect as is the counter argument that we get some of it back. It’s an accounting exercise.

I'd jail him just for being Boris Johnson.

The case is a waste of time because it clearly is not a straightforward lie. It is a dubious interpretation of a fact which could be argued either that it is not wholly untrue, or that it is a misinterpretation.

Here's a question. How many Labour politicians have been prosecuted for any comments made about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? If none, why not? Is it because the war in Iraq was a more trivial issue than the wording on a bus, or is it because this prosecution is a fatuous waste of everybody's time?

Publicity seeking foaming (still) left leaning luvvies that simply can’t bear to see democracy in practice when its “ not their type of democracy “I notice the odious Gina Miller is getting her oar in along with the sweaty w@nk fest that’s overcoming the left now they know ( somewhat fortuitously ) they may very well have scuppered BoJo’s bid once and for all . I’d expect this to grow and grow regardless of the utter nonsensical nature of the case .
Expect funds to flow .

None, because politicians acted on poor Intel provided and sourced by intelligence agencies from the UK, US & others.

The politicians in question have several layers of revomal from any straight up fabrications.

I expect Boris has full access to the numbers he peddled, he even went back on the claim after it helped win him the vote.

It's because you haven't started a crowdfunder to research then prosecute them.
If you feel so strongly that Boris is innocent or that other politicians are just as bad then why not do something about it like Marcus Ball has.
