Crushing win.

Bowling Archer against lower order batsman will be like shooting fish in a barrel. Give him 3 overs first up then save him.

Young lad for Tod did it last season against Burnley.

He stopped a 6 doing it too by plucking it out the air behind him on the ropes.

This is similar to the lad from Tod - but he somehow managed to stay on his feet and land after reaching back over the boundary (obviously it wasn’t as far over the boundary as the one in the vid).

Brilliant to watch.
That catch was the icing on what's been a very good day in the field.
Great win!

Dark Cloud wrote:From the little I know he's been fast tracked into all the England teams because of his out and out pace. For several years now England have been running the "fast bowler" programme aimed at young lads and looking at finding the next really, really quick pace bowler because it's something we've been lacking when several other teams have had them (Stark being a great example) This guy has suddenly made himself eligible and by passed all of that as well as many other established players and is being hailed as the answer and it's ruffled more than a few feathers I believe. Well we'll see how he develops.
Yeah, he’s definitely got some pace and a bit of X factor about him. The reason I asked was because all the hype was about whether he’d make the WC squad; there was no mention of the Ashes but that may have been because the WC was happening first.

We do desperately need pace but does he have the necessary control for test cricket? We don’t want another Devon Malcolm!

Nowt wrong with Dev!

But that's the first I've seen of Archer.
He was impressive.

I don't know if they still do the champagne moment, but that catch will be an early contender for the moment of the tournament, early days yet of course.

Not sure about the comment re Devon Malcolm in post 60...a bit unfair I thought.

'We don’t want another Devon Malcolm!'

Devon threw a few loose ones down, but he had genuine pace and on his day he scared batsmen to death.

I was fortunate enough 25 years ago to be down the Oval when Devon took 9 for 57 against South Africa. he was just unplayable: Fanie de Villiers was daft enough to hit DM with a bouncer on the helmet just before lunch...

Devon was angry..when he was handed a bright red new ball he went hunting - Kirsten x2, Hansie Cronje, McMillan, Jonty Rhodes and the rest..a fab day's cricket..[bit like today]

Excellent start. I thought we were a few runs light with our total. Certainly would have been against Australia or India. That said a good start. That catch from Stokes was 'out of this world'.

No doubt he was awesome on that day, but days like that were very few and far between.
