I expect it to be a little more difficult in the Bob Lord due to where the exits are, and the number of them. You need access to them so may not fit as many extra seats in, especially with there being a maximum number per column you can have of 28 seats across I’m sure I’ve read somewhere. It seems to hold true for most stadiums. I’d put more expensive seats (larger and comfier) in the Bob Lord and charge a small premium for season tickets and match day tickets.

The cricket club would die out without the funding from the football matchday in my opinion, they take between 200k and 300k a season from it. Then they would have to find somewhere suitable to rehome.

How much would a business cost that made that sort of money? Even without the land.
10m would have done it, not sure if it still would. The price will only ever be going up IMO.

Just imagine, a purpose built stand, with players car park and entrance, TV crew van park. Plenty more plfan parking, great access to the stadium and maybe even a purpose built ticket office/club shop or fan zone.

But if the football club ever moved to a new stadium the land would become almost worthless.

If the club did buy it, new stand built and the away fans would enter from that direction with the cricket field becoming a coach park with a big pub for away fans before the game.

There's so much land, and even more options regards what to do with it.

Must be in the minds if we are really trying to build something long term and have a self sufficient club. It's a Nahki Wells less in the squad, but would open up so many avenues.

They will still be patching up the two old stands in 10,15 years time, no intentions of redeveloping the ground

Your assumption is wrong. Burnley CC is the only one (of the original 14, any way) that is a limited company - since 1924, in fact, when they were in financial trouble and in danger of going out of business. It has 5,996 shares split into 448 parcels, many if not most of them owned by executors of deceased persons - which means either that there has been a recent holocaust of Burnley CC shareholders that somehow failed to make the news, or else that the shareholders' register is way out of date. Presumably the latter - many shareholders will have died and their relatives either didn't know about the Burnley CC shares, or didn't bother to transfer them.

So find the next of kin of all those deceased shareholders, buy the shares, turn up at the AGM, and Robert's your father's brother. (Though hopefully if that sort of jiggery-pokery went on, Burnley FC would refuse to take advantage.)

These pictures were taken against Olympiacos back in August when, if I remember correctly, the Cricket Field home section wasn’t full, although it was busy.

These two pictures were taken within seconds of each other, showing the toilet and refreshment area, and through to outside of the stand. Obviously not everybody decided to go onto the concourse at half time either but, as you can see, there is no room.

How are they going to fit the extra fans in now we have a further 300 home seats?

With all due respect, even in some never grounds it can get pretty packed before and at half-time.

Jeez!!!!!! This is becoming alarming!

This isn't just a small increase in Burnley seats.
We must be talking about a 20% increase in home seat capacity, an extra 300 to 400.

Does anyone know the exact figure?
We could be talking 1800 to 1900 people all trying to pass through a 3' wide opening to get to the toilet and out again.
Away fans get 2 staircases we still have the 1.

Is it LCC who issue the Ground Safety Certificate?

This is going from being dangerous to downright lethal!
claretforever

Thanks for your photos. As can be seen the only TV is over the 1m wide entrance and exit to the toilet!
Nobody is looking at the screen because ours would have been the only match on.

So if it wasn't at capacity that night and we have a further 300 seats to come, I reiterate;

This is going to be lethal!

See the other thread going about Hillsborough.
The design of stand and then it's subsequent change of usage, needs to be considered very carefully.
You cannot keep packing more and more people into the same overcrowded space.

Or have we learned nothing?

None of our directors sit in the cricket field stand though, so I don't think they'll be too bothered. Same reason why they were fine with our disabled supporters sitting out in the open getting ****** wet through year after year.

Regarding just how many additional seats will be in the stand. This is the information which I received from the club when I queried this - 'There will be approximately 100 additional seats in the Ladbrokes stand. This number is not yet fixed and will be confirmed before the start of the season.'

I get it nearer to 300.

This is way more than 100 seats!

More like 360

Unless, they are expanding the room by 300 but only selling another 100? wonder if that's capped by there only being one exit?

2 Bee Holed, it is indeed Lancashire County Council that issues safety certificates for sports grounds. Presumably the work to the CFS is notifiable to LCC as it increases the overall capacity of the stand. If you have genuine concerns over the safety of the stand then you really should contact LCC as a matter of conscience. The issue of stadium safety - in light of Graham Mackrell's conviction last month for his part in the Hillsborough disaster - has never been more prescient.

Back in 1990 or so, capacity was reduced to 1,200 in that stand for a spell and further work was done to get it back up. The gates and steps in the wall at the front were part of that work, but I don't know what else was done.

Yes, from the photos I also thought that it looked more like 300 but the quote stating 100 was what I got from the club.
