I’d image much of the work we did wasn’t in response to single occurrences of hooliganism, but because of the safety at sports Grounds Act 1975, and the Green Code.

The green code, for example, advised that home and away fans be segregated, and also each stand be separate so fans could not transfer within the ground. Security fences (perimeter fencing) should divide standing spectators from the pitch, but allow police and first aid personnel access at certain points.

The government in 1975 asked local authorities to be reasonable in their interpretation, and some councils gave breathing space to their local clubs where others did not.

Perhaps we had to make certain changes over a set period?

This video should start on 0.26 of the clip that shows a fence at least 2ft above the men standing there. Seems a bit much for advertising.

Definitely a fence there, but it seems strange that they would do the Bee Hole End before the Longside. Presumably it was a work in progress at that point, which would give you your answer.

Yes you are right that is a better picture .. looks half-finished doesn't it ? none on the longside either it starts behind the corner touchline ... must have been done in two stages

Sorry to go off at a tangent, but if you start the clip at the beginning (instead of 26 secs) you see Brian Miller wearing a white umbro tracky top with a massive Burnley Building Society logo on the back. I want one.
