I think you are wrong there.
John Stones is a Man City back up player, at best.
He was signed for potential and plays for England, because Southgate saw that potential, when managing the younger teams.

For whatever reason, the potential is yet to materialise, except in the head of John Stones.

That makes him a lethal, liability.

Tarkowski, suffered the same delusion, after his England debut. Late on, last season, he remembered his place.

He would ge more reliable.
