Textbook “good lad”. Competent back up, won’t be upset at being parked on the bench for every single league game, would work in the cup.

The reference to bomb squad is the players who are no longer part of the plans. Similar situation to the one Stephen Ward was in at Wolves.

JRod and Mooy would be perfect and should be doable. Both add quality over what we have fit.

They just take the heights off Wikipedia, which is wrong. The Burnley website also lists Pope as around 6ft 4, but he's 6ft 7.Tall Paul wrote:Burnley official website list him as 176cm which is just over 5'9"

I’ll be amazed if Pope is only 6ft 4ins. My neck is still damaged from when I spoke to him last year.BFC123 wrote:They just take the heights off Wikipedia, which is wrong. The Burnley website also lists Pope as around 6ft 4, but he's 6ft 7.

Stone was talking about sending him out on loan this year, think he came primarily as a LB but they've also played him as a left-sided CB last season. Bit of a Ben Mee situation maybe?kaptin1 wrote:What about Glennon, isn’t he a left back and very highly rated?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
My mate thinks he’s a better central defender but I prefer him at left back. Decent though, I’ve been impressed with him. Looks as though Koiki will go out on loan again and Glennon could too which will give the new lad Senior an opportunity.rob63 wrote:Stone was talking about sending him out on loan this year, think he came primarily as a LB but they've also played him as a left-sided CB last season. Spurs got to the Champions league final without making any signings this time last year. We have two players for every position if we play either Gibson or Mee at left back if necessary.
There is therefore need to sign anybody unless we sell someone first. Lets give Vydra, Wells and Gibson the opportunity to prove themselves.

He was listed as 6' 2" earlier this season on one of the clickbait sites when a transfer to Arsenal & the like was being mooted. When he's pictured alongside Heaton he's a good few inches taller than Tom.ClaretTony wrote:I’ll be amazed if Pope is only 6ft 4ins. My neck is still damaged from when I spoke to him last year.

Pieters would be a decent signing. Very experienced in the PL and the Stoke fans seem to think he's one of the good guys (ie not one who is going to upset the applecart). I imagine it would be a 2 year deal as he turns 31 in August. Would be decent backup for Taylor who made major strides last season.

A little off topic, but has anyone ever come across a more useless local journalist than Chris Boden?
Never has the first clue about what's going on until another journalist tweets something. He should have been all over a deal like that.

I thought at first a young left back would be ideal but I now think we need experienced cover. This lad was first choice at Stoke for five and a half years until Nathan Jones became manager.taio wrote:He'd be ideal. And shouldnt cost too much. Would allow us to spend big in other areas. Personally I think signing promising young players to provide cover, where there's a chance they will improve over time and have the potential to command a high price in the future is a better model than signing experienced players who are unlikely to feature and have no resale value.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
A sensible signing allowing our young full back(s) to go on loan/play for the U23s whist the club monitors their development. I still hope we will make 2 other signings in terms of creativity and goals. How much the club spends on these will be key.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Just 2 or 3 with real quality that will be in the first 11 - we need to progress as a club but we just keep staying up but treading water - more youth more pace more flairSpijed wrote:Why do you actually want in terms of transfers?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If they are good enough to play at this level, as our fourth successive season clearly indicates that our players are, I really couldn't care less where they came from.Murger wrote:You'd be happy if we signed players from Barlick Town. Surprised you haven't mentioned The Orient Game yet.
Our views obviously differ in that I want us to sign players that help to keep us up, whereas you give the impression that the name of the club we sign players from is very important.

Murger,
Seamus Coleman, who's done quite well for Everton, was signed from Sligo Rovers.
I presume from your reference to Barlick town that you would have deemed him not good enough had we signed him instead of Everton?
