We are waiting for our all powerful media team to decide when we get to know. Despite charging £42 for Claretsplayer the announcements are never relayed to the fans as soon as deals happen.Guller Bull wrote:Has Jay signed or is it a case of awaiting medical?
Has Joel Mumbongo signed or is he on trial?
Erik was on the plane hours before it was deemed reasonable for the supporters to receive confirmation.

Have expected Heaton to depart with a large degree of confidence since the Pope deal was announced. Fee needs to be acceptable, but ultimately if he’s going to be unhappy staying it does us no good to keep hold.

I'd have thought Chris Boden's stock response would be "Talk of Jay Rodriguez signing for Burnley is wide of the mark".SGr wrote:Boden: Rodriguez to be confirmed this afternoon

Close...
He told us they were bidding for Hart, then he decided they were bidding for Pope due to him being fit and Heaton being number 1 so he was looking to move on, Pope then signed a new deal and he then said they were looking at Heaton.
He also had nothing in his rag about signing Pieters although he could well have put something on his twitter account (blocked after asking him to make his mind up which keeper they were signing), he is like the non darter on bullseye, if you close your eyes and throw 100 darts one will probably hit the target then the gullible ones will claim how he is in the know.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
When it's announced that a player will be unveiled to the media does that mean they are stood in the corner of the press room, with a big cloth over their head? And at the appropriate moment someone says ta-da! and pulls off said cloth, unveiling that player?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Chris Boden was the first reporter I saw break the news that Jay Rod had a £5m release clause in his contract.
It's very easy for people to make critical remarks on those working in the media but its a very different world to what it once was. Once over, the relationship between the clubs and local papers was key - that is no longer the case, the club's own media 'department' will dictate, to a large extent, what gets out there. Plus the newspapers have no resources to even staff their papers properly, it's all about how many clicks an article can make on social media. And then you've got the agents 'playing the game' exploiting every avenue in an attempt to keep their players in the news.
So many contributors seem intent on making personal attacks on local reporters but unfortunately its the regional media business that's broken, not the individuals themselves. Also from the club's point of view, why give the local paper the scoop when folks are paying £40 per season to be granted exclusives via Clarets Player etc.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Subject to Defour being fit all season (I know that's silly) and Tarks and Heaton staying ( probably wishful thinking), I think we now have our best squad since the early 60's. Sign a new Defour and we definitely have imo.

If Vydra is staying it means Crouch definitely won't be returning as we can't have five strikers on the books!

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If he has, he paid for himself by winning the penalty against Soton in the last minute. He definitely very skilfully headed the ball down on to the defender's arm. I think he knew exactly what he was doing. Had we lost that, we'd have finished behind them and would be two million pounds worse off. Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
That Southampton penalty was effectively his only meaningful contribution but it shouldn't be underestimated. The season's outcome could have been a whole lot different if we lost that game.
What's more he's effectively the bridge between the Vokes out/Rodriguez in deal - representing a very modest net outlay, by PL standards and a very different scenario from if we had pursued our interest with West Brom last summer which would have required an up-front outlay of something like £15M.
Inadvertently, and admittedly it could have turned out quite differently, a very astute piece of business in the January window.
