Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Think issue with Heaton is this Joe Hart had it written in his contract he could be no lower in pecking order than, number 2.
Whether that was for length of contract or just last season I don't know.
I think If Hart goes Tom stays. Neither Pope nor Heaton will be willing to be third choice if Hart is number 2 by default than merit.

I hope not as we have only replaced vokes and ward - now we need that extra bit of quality to add some spark but you could be right all done which is staggering reallyjrgbfc wrote:Do we think that will be our business done now for the first team squad? Can you reveal which credible source told you about this highly unbelievable, borderline ridiculous, clause in Joe Hart’s contract.TomtheClaret wrote:Think issue with Heaton is this Joe Hart had it written in his contract he could be no lower in pecking order than, number 2.

Mipo. I'd be happy with this lad. Scores against Rovers.
Seen some clips of him on Twitter also looks pacy and powerful. Irish lad of Nigerian descent.

Good to see Dyche referring to adding some more flexibility to the squad. One thing that's quite noticeable about our squad is that quite a lot of players are quite rigid - none of our wide players are that comfortable up front (and vice versa), nor our defenders in midfield, etc. Bardsley can cover both full back positions, Brady and JBG operate on either flank, but other than that the only genuinely multi-functional players are really Hendrick and (possibly, given he's played almost exclusively on the left wing for us) McNeil.Stockbrokerbelt wrote:Dyche said we have not finished & still looking to strengthen, would like to see how Dyche & the board spin plates..........

Nods, I would respect the chain of command and move Ben Mee up to be Captain, if he wants the arm band, and name Tarks as Vice Captain.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote:I’m sure Ben Mee would love that.
Going into his 9th season with us and doesn’t get the armband.
Should and almost certainly would be him.
Tarks has a good strong character, seems to really get what we are about and he is always one of the first to step up with a reasonably cool head and an imposing presence when things look like they could kick off.
Everyone player was supportive, but I thought Tarks really when out of his way to make Dwight McNeill feel comfortable on the pitch until he found his feet.
I really like how he put family before football to come to us in the first instance as well, he could have gone to another club, football is important but family always comes first.
He is also one of our younger players, which would prevent a lot of chopping and changing should he stay with us for the long term.

Boden tweeted: Again explains David Jones is training with the club as a favour to "a great servant and a fantastic pro"Blackrod wrote:Can’t see the issue with helping David Jones out. Think it’s a nice touch by the club and Dyche. He was a good servant, always appreciative of the fans and a good bloke. Maybe he’s a future coach in the making.
It is sad that so many people's first thought is 'please don't sign him', rather than 'welcome back Jonah - can we help?' SD didn't show sentiment when it was time to say goodbye but he treats people with respect that endures. We have been missold loyalty in the past, so shame on those who are riddled with fear rather than flowing with gratitude. Lovely man Jonah who always had time for people in a genuine and understated way.
UTC!
Edit: was quoting Blackrod cos he said it better

Crazy stuff going on.
Jonah was very good for us until he came to the time when age meant he couldn't hold down a place in a PL team.
SD is very demanding with his players (there's no other way in today's game) but if you give him what he wants he'll stick by you.
The fact that Matt Taylor, Joey Barton and Jonah were all back in contact with him after leaving speaks for itself.

Yes it was all going hunky dory at first and with Pope coming in and preforming heroics it help him toClaretTony wrote:You mean he captained the team to 7th in the table and had a good season himself
Second half of the season was indifferent he found it in my eyes hard going apart from the 5 match straight win then we ground out till the end and did yes a fantastic job.
Start of the season was all over the shop and we needed a warrior to take command and settle the place down but everyone was blaming Hart for not talking and organising, surly its down to the captain to shout out from the roof tops.
I say in my opinion it work very well for half a season then the pressure was on it was a different story in my book
He was captain for nearly a season and a half did a job but i though he just lacked that bit of strength in shouting out orders and it was interfering with his play and concentration at the start of last season.
Not saying he did a bad job cause he didn't hes just not captain material where i think Tarko or Westwood would be a better option if Heaton decides to seek his game else were.
I also think he was relived to give it back to Heaton when he came back in if its not broke why fix it

(BBC) Villa sign England U21 defender Ezri Konsa from Brentford for a reported £12 million.
They're certainly splashing it around. Let's hope it follows Fulham's spending - down the khazi.

IF Heaton Leaves, Mee is captain, no point debating that he may not be, but do understand the debate of in your opinion who you think would be better.
What i did find interesting is Mee did the PR bit about Gaffers Day and was talking as a captain.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I’ve no doubt if Heaton does leave that Dyche will pick the best man for Captain. He is certainly a good judge of character and sees them every day in training, how they interact with other players and the respect they command.

3 of Villa's signings were players who were on loan last season and part of their promotion team which if you can do it is a no brainer and great business.
Also two of the new players Jota and Konsa both worked with Dean Smith at Brentford so he knows them really well

What's happened to Danny Drinkwater? He was in the press for a drink-driving ban but I haven't seen anything about any possible transfers for him which is surprising given his lack of playing time at Chelsea. Is he injured?

Peacock-Farrell is young but I thought he was shocking for Leeds. He couldn’t deal with long shots and was targeted relentlessly by their opposition.

Vydra out on loan to a championship club. Why would we keep him and loan him out, we might as well sell him.
Heaton allowed to go if AV up their bid. Complete contradiction to SD's comments.
SD is looking for a midfielder because of Defours fitness problems.
These are rumours anyway one of us could have made up. There are so many crap football sites now that just make up or regurgitate old rumours that most of them can be ignored.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I guess Tyrone Mings illustrates why it can be good to loan a player to a championship club rather than have them doing nothing in the Premier League. If they're doing well it gets them in the shop window and boosts their value. We did it with Wells too (although you'd hope that Vydra would be a bit nearer the first team).Firthy wrote:I think they read this forum and then make up rumours to suit. I'd hoped If he left it would be to a more established team, letting him go to a promoted club seriously strengthens a rival which we should be looking to finish above.
