Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
We need someone more reliable than McCarthy, his recent injuries suggest we may end up with another on the injury table, albeit a fully fit JM would fit in no problem with us
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Delph and Milner would both be players I’d love to see in in a Dyche team. Quality and the prerequisite work rate to go with it.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I think most were impressed with Westwood, it was Cork who had some issues.ClaretTony wrote:Can't believe any posters weren't impressed with Westwood in the second half of the season, he was as good as anyone we had.
I think Pieters, in some ways, is a good comparison in that him losing his place came about with a change of manager. Jones ditched Pieters because he didn't think he fit into the way he played, from what I've heard over at Huddersfield, Siewert doesn't rate Billing so I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave. He did win their players' player of the year award last season.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Let's be clear though, we cant have everything. Curious to say passing "should be taken for granted" - clearly there are midfielders who make careers in the Premier League in spite of the quality of their passing (because they're superb athletes), and there are some who make it because of their passing.Quickenthetempo wrote:Claretspice we need athleticism and strength in the middle of the park as unfortunately Cork seems to lose out on too many battles. Passing should be taken for granted if we're signing a premier league quality player.
I like Cork and the same with most of our CMs he would be a lot better in a 3, but Dyche doesn't like that so we need to upgrade.
In my opinion, whilst I think we need "presence" in midfield, I don't think we especially need anyone more athletic than Cork - and I suspect most supporters of other teams would be surprised by the idea we are not physical enough in midfield. Where we're short, in my view, is in the ability of Cork and Westwood to move the ball to the flanks quickly (although Rodriguez' has an ability to switch the ball wide when I've seen him that might help in that regard).
So - if you've got to rank the 3 attributes in order of priority - I'd priorities presence (height and physicality) and passing/technical ability, above athleticism (by which we really mean pace), because of how tight we keep things in midfield.
Even then, if we're looking for the two attributes primarily, we've seen how difficult it is to think of realistic targets who fit the brief. We've got to be realistic about what we can hope to sign.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
As alluded to above, Billing was only out of the team due to disagreements with the manager. He’s exactly the type of player that would improve us and certainly has the attributes we’re looking for. Can’t comment on attitude but he wasn’t the only one to have disagreements with the manager there.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I agree, people seem to be confusing athleticism with pace. Cork is a great athlete, he can run all day- a real marathon runner, which is what we needed at the time, but now the game has changed, as have the team, with better players in the starting XI, we now need someone in MF with more pace. Short bursts of acceleration to create space & open defences up & react quicker from out of position, Cork as good as he is, regrettably is not that player. Hope we find that player or Westie is going to be knackered by next Mayclaretspice wrote:Let's be clear though, we cant have everything. The Ukrainian midfielder is off to Atalanta apparently.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Malinovskyi is a good player but a bit of a hot-head, gets wound up & always a candidate for a yellow card. Not really a defensive mid for those on here who were looking for that. Berge is their DMF but he'd be cost too much for Burnley.CMOMClaret wrote:Burnley to make £19 million double raid on Genk

Maehle is a good player but I'd be surprised if we got them both for less than £25m.

Heaton to Villa is a done deal apparently
2nd hand info and no idea on fee but I guess time will tell. Would be a great shame but something has to give with the keepers

Would love to see Tom stay
But not signing at new contract.....33 .... villa will to pay 7 to 10 million
And Pope his much younger under study ready to take over
It would be another fantastic piece of business by the club.

Malinovskyi looks to have a wand of a left foot and would add nice balance to the midfield. Sky Italia reporting he is signing for Atalanta, though.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Genk is an excellent club for producing future stars and the sort of club we should be scouting.
This is from there wiki page:
Youth academy
Genk is well known for its outstanding youth academy. In 2003 they built their youth center next to their stadium and set up a youth program with Ronny Vangeneugden. There are further plans to build a boarding school and some synthetic pitches. In the past and now, many young players have found their way through the youth system. Some examples are Yannick Carrasco (Atlético Madrid), Jelle Vossen (Club Brugge), Dennis Praet (Sampdoria), Steven Defour (Burnley), Christian Benteke (Crystal Palace), Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), Divock Origi (Liverpool), Timothy Castagne (Atalanta Bergamo) and Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City).
Their scouting is also highly regarded. Players like Kalidou Koulibaly, Wilfred Ndidi, Leon Bailey and Sergej Milinković-Savić all played for Genk.

Leeds fans won't want us to get hold of Klich and they can apparently extend his contract by another year.bfc-sparta wrote:Why go for roofe when we got vydra? Unless he's part of the deal for him and klich
From what I've seen of him he's more a hard working / industrious type, which let's be fair, is a Dyche type of player. He also has a cracking good shot on him, and 10 goals from midfield is decent. The Leeds friends I've asked (some who go on every home game), really rate him.

A paper isn’t credible for football news if it makes up match reports without sending reporters and makes up player ratings.
