Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Not convinced re: Tarky to Leicester. Nonsense sources saying it’s on, very little in the way of believable news.
Truthfully, I don’t think they’ll go for him if Maguire moves on. Leicester have a strong presence in Europe and they’ll likely know they can find better value (and MAYBE a better player) overseas. They also have *potential* replacements in their ranks already.

I’m sure Dwight is well up for going to Newcastle and being managed by Steve Bruce when he’s being watched by Juventus and Spurs.
No chance.
No chance.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If they want £50m for Longstaff then they can cough up the same for McNeil.
And that’s if he’d even go there which is probably a backwards step right now anyway. Not happening.

Newcastle want to pay £15m for McNeil - well, I'm sure they do. And I want to buy a rather nice new car for £250, but that's not going to happen either.

If McNeil was in the final year of his contract,or heaven forbid we drop a league maybe, but he's got a contract till 2023,if they're serious get the chequebook out.
And if we were entertaining the idea of selling Dwight,we certainly wouldn't help a relegation rival.
A major advantage of securing another season at the top table is we're able to tie our top assets down on long-term deals,so if people make cheeky bids we can tell them to politely skedaddle.

Newcastle paid £15m for club legend Alan Shearer. They must really rate McNeill who has far less pedigree at this level.

Difficult to compare era's,but in the current market Shearer would set you back a £100m or so,hard to judge Dwight on half a season, but he's definitely worth more than £15m,average Championship players go for that nowadays.Rileybobs wrote:Newcastle paid £15m for club legend Alan Shearer. Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
McNeil played well against Olympiakos and United in August and then promptly disappeared once our more established players got themselves fit. People can try and paint it as a Dyche masterstroke all they want but the fact is he threw him back in for the West Ham game because he didn't really have a choice.

He did have a choice, Hendrick was on the bench. He could have played safe with JBG on the left and Hendrick on the right but he obviously thought that the time was right for the 19 (nineteen) year old to prove himself.jrgbfc wrote:McNeil played well against Olympiakos and United in August and then promptly disappeared once our more established players got themselves fit. Yep, just goes to show, but for injuries and him grasping his chance, he could have been playing for Cheltenham.Vegas Claret wrote:Duff said in an interview they were in for Dwight then he made his league debut and that was the end of it.
People forget we tried
Hendrick, Taylor and Barnes out wide before McNeil.

Or alternatively our manager didn’t think he was ready until he showed it in training and earnt his chance. Not so at all and you have very much got Duff’s comments wrong. He asked about McNeil in September, hoping he’d be able to get him in January. He was told no then.MACCA wrote:Yep, just goes to show, but for injuries and him grasping his chance, he could have been playing for Cheltenham.

Obviously, we were well short of wide men after our failings in the transfer window.ClaretTony wrote:Not so at all and you have very much got Duff’s comments wrong. He asked about McNeil in September, hoping he’d be able to get him in January. He was told no then.
It would have been suicidal to let any leave.
Thank goodness none of the first 3 tried made any real impact, resulting in McNeil getting a chance.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
exact Duff quote regarding McNeil in January
"Dwight went away from us a long time ago and it was a tongue in cheek comment really. He was one of the ones that when I got the job, I speak to Sean (Dyche) probably two or three times a week and I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago, almost a cheeky one, and he said 'no'. Since then he's gone on to start, score and set one up on Wednesday night. He's a good player and I've known that since I started working with him at 16. From a personal point of view I am made up for him. From a professional point of view I'd have liked him to have not quite done it this month because we might have been able to pinch him. We are always looking at people, all the time. Did we realistically have a chance of signing him? Three months ago we did, but obviously he's starting in the Premier League now, so why would be come to League Two."
