BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
To me it looks like we have 2 or more players for every position.
That being the case we are not really in dire straits for players.
Whether the players we have are good enough to sustain another year in premier league is the big question for me.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Whilst the future of the club shouldn’t be risked think we need to speculate a bit more. The market shifts but we don’t. I liken it to a Corporate Market, Corporate Income levels, large Retained Profits with Corner Shop forecasting and cash flow modelling with some out of date stock. Not really having a dig but if the scouting network can’t find the right level of talent at the right price then we need to loosen the purse strings. CM has to be improved for us to move forward on the pitch.

Every morning you read the updates to this thread and the bs posted along the lines of:
He’s wasted 30m, Garlick won’t trust him to spend any more....
There’s difference of opinions between Garlick and the manager....
Can understand why Garlick is cautious in transfer dealings......
Garlick is resenting the Defour signing.....
Blah blah fcn blah......and that’s just the last few posts...
Here’s how it really is:
We’ve never had it so good.
Garlick has never had it so good.
Unfortunately not every signing works perfectly but Dyche has currently helped earn the club going on for half a billion pounds.
Some of the signings from last year have had a year to show whether they are good enough to work for the best manager in the league.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Due to the lack of rumours and SD's comments I think we're all losing interest and this has just become a discussion (or bickering depending who you are) about what we need.
The one thing we all agree is that with Defour's injury problems we definitely need a top class midfielder. Maybe we should have a poll to see who agrees and then let Burnley and SD know the result so they can act on it

We payed nigh on a transfer record at the time 8 million wages must be 35 k a week what's that work out for 40 odd games in 3 years
You tell me if hes not seething at the thought of that money just drained from the powder store

I don't think we are necessarily punching above our weight anymore. We have spent the majority of the last decade at the top of the Championship, or in the Premier League. We have even taken in a European tour. We are establishing ourselves on and off the pitch as a premier league club. We do need in my opinion to to get that illiusive stella midfielder though. How Defour still isnt fit and playing is a worry.mdd2 wrote:More of a Joey out of the pouch if we are to continue punching above our weight!!!!!!

What's more worrying is that we don't appear to have any replacements lined up despite the money we have and the fact that we've spent comparatively little so far. Heaven help us if Cork and Westwood get injured.mybloodisclaret wrote: We do need in my opinion to to get that illiusive stella midfielder though. How Defour still isnt fit and playing is a worry.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I think our ultimate goal is to be one of the few teams outside the top 6 that aren't pegged for relegation.
Right now, I would only put Everton and Leicester in that group.
2 years ago, I don't think any experts had Stoke and West Brom (both teams who had been in the PL for close to 10 years) as going down, so even after multiple years in the PL, they couldn't ensure their safety.
We are slowly increasing our talent level, some on higher costs (like Wood) and others through some great buys (McNeil, Barnes, Pope), but are starting XI is getting better.
Will this year be a struggle? Probably, but throwing cash around isn't necessarily going to assure our safety.

Signing 1 much needed midfielder does not equate to "throwing cash around " . Going into another Premier League season with our Midfield strength being 2 from Cork, Westwood and Hendrick is just asking for trouble

The club need to stop this stubborn stance and get in the players needed or all this fantastic work could all be undone in an heart beat and it would be a crying shame especially when you have everyone on sundry that governs the league hoping to see the back of us

Not sure if there's much mileage in this one since we've already got two first-team right-backs for this season & maybe longer, & having signed the 2 lads from Bury & Curzon Ashton this window to develop in addition to Cropper in the U-23's, it's a bit like overkill maybe?

"2 years ago I don't think any experts had Stoke and West Brom tipped as going down"
Mark Langdon (chief football writer at the Racing Post) put up a couple of Relegation trebles that season as follows
Huddersfield, Burnley and West Brom at 50/1 generally
Huddersfield, Burnley and Stoke at 66/1 generally
"Albion were hugely reliant on set-piece goals last term and if the signing of Jay Rodriguez, a man who has suffered frustrating spells out injured, fails to come off it is difficult to see much in the way of firepower. Rodriguez has scored 5 goals in his last 36 matches, big Gareth McAuley is now 37, Darren Fletcher left for Stoke and Nacer Chadli failed to travel with the squad for pre-season training in Austria".
"Stoke also need to enter relegation calculations, given they spent 56 days in the bottom 3 last season and lost one of their best players Marko Arnautovic to West Ham this summer"
William Hill had West Brom priced at 5/1 for the drop and Stoke at 7/1 so not great shocks really.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
It’s getting to the point where Maguire’s transfer would set the wheels in motion far too late. We’d need to sort a replacement within less than two weeks - which, unless an agreement in principle already exists, is too long. Especially for us.

I have it on good authority we are about to sign a central attacking midfielder that is still quite young (21). He is a ex Liverpool lad who was very highly rated. He is a very good prospect watch this space
