BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
It's not a travesty if we give Dave Jones 1 year.
Hear me out, he knows the squad, the standards we set, the framework, will be extremely cheap compared to others, will only be 4th choice, and would hardly be used in the premier league, just for rest purposes in the cups and if we are down to the bare bones. I'd be surprised if he started more than half a dozen games in all competitions if he did sign.
Also allows us to re evaluate next summer then.

Quite embarrassing how quiet it is on the transfer front
Let's just hope that can change this week otherwise anyone we sign won't feature for months until dyche fit

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
He'd be more value for money than say making another Wells or Walters type signing.jojomk1 wrote:Wow, that represents really good value for money
Would expect him to make no more than 6 appearances and would be on similar wages to that of Adam Legzdins who's been here for about 4 seasons and isn't even trusted to be a number 3!
I'd say Jones would be excellent value for money for 1 season, whilst Mr Rigg works his magic, and we can sort it out next window or next summer.
Or would you prefer we splashed out another 10/15m on a player to be 4th choice and sit on the bench/*be injured all season like Vydra, Defour or Gibson?
* Is aware you cannot help injuries
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
David Jones hahahaha.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Villa now linked with the Cardiff keeper. Warnock has said they will listen to offers.

Also I'd rather us go with what we have if it means keeping the season tickets frozen next season, and are posting good healthy profits again next year.
The club is only able to continue to do all its fantastic work, and is able to give so much back purely because of our sensible work in the transfer market, I'd rather it stay like that.

If I recall it was our slim MF that got us relegated last time and this season it seems clear we are one short in the squad already with a far from certain future (Defour) and another MF injury like Deanos would see us struggle
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If we didn't sign anyone else this window, it DOESN'T MEAN INSTANT RELEGATION, even though I'm certain there's at least 1 more arrival, I'd even say a very strong chance of 2.mdd2 wrote:Even if it means relegation Macca?

So let's not panic, it's how we work every single window.
If we miss out, we go with what we have got.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
My gut feeling is that new player/s have been identified.
A transfer fee of 15/20m is not the stumbling block but wages.
If the links of Hart to Porto are true then this would free up the wages to sign 1/2 players on decent wages.
People have mentioned Aaron Mooy, who is currently reported on 50k a week at Huddersfield. Harry Arter on 40k and Camarasa reportedly on 20k+ a week.
This is the reality, ultimately Camarasa would be an easier option on wages with perhaps a slightly higher transfer fee 17m? But as the younger man. Could have strong sell on value in 3 years.
If not we have to find an alternative from the Championship or young talent, but both strategies are risky.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Identify yes, and I'm sure he's done a lot of identifying - Sean Dyche won't bring in players he doesn't want though, they will have to tick every box for him. Rigg has a wide ranging brief but selecting the players we sign is not one of them.Woodleyclaret wrote:wasn't it Riggs job to identify and aquire Seans needs in players coming in.?

I thought Rigg played down his role in senior recruitment in a recent interview? Said he was primarily focussed in increasing the calibre of players entering the Academy and U23s?ClaretTony wrote:Identify yes, and I'm sure he's done a lot of identifying - Sean Dyche won't bring in players he doesn't want though, they will have to tick every box for him. Tony going on that assumption then its Dyche thats the problem
Or the players he wants are too expensive for our board ??

I didn't even suggest there was a problem - just repeating what we all know that Dyche, and Dyche alone, will choose which players we sign while accepting help from others. Martin Hodge, by the way, remains head of recruitment.Blyclaret wrote:Tony going on that assumption then its Dyche thats the problem

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
The problem seems to be more in the heads of posters on MBs like this. A lack of any real information about the situation at the Club leads to wild speculation and guesswork from many, wild optimism in others, and deep despondency is poor wretches like BOYSIE_31.Blyclaret wrote:Tony going on that assumption then its Dyche thats the problem

We just have to be patient. We have fairly consistently pulled off 11th hour deals in the past few years, and nothing indicates we wont do the same now.

“Poor wretches” is not personal abuse - it’s the other end of the scale to “happy clappers”. The obvious context was the constant doom, gloom, panic and negativity of some posters.
We really could do with a transfer - any transfer...just so we have something real to debate !

I don’t think some people grasp that. I’ve been accused of never going to games in this window alone because I criticised our targets/business.Firthy wrote: WE're all Burnley supporters and what what's best for the club, we just have different opinions about it.
I think it sits well the idea with certain posters that a “true” Burnley fan wouldn’t hold such opinions, and that those who do just want us to fail. Sad to see.

Some good points there MACCA,if an incoming CM is going to cost 15-20m,and be collecting a good wedge for warming the bench,is that spending justified, and even if we signed some of the names mentioned on this and other threads, that's still no guarantee we won't be relegated.MACCA wrote:It's not a travesty if we give Dave Jones 1 year.

Also allows us to re evaluate next summer then.
Whatever division we're in next season, the midfield will need replacements anyway,Defour will thankfully be out the door,Hendrick's BFC future is in doubt,as he's in the last year of his contract.
We splashed a good amount last summer on Gibson and Vydra, and they hardly got any match time,Dave Jones would be a low-risk stopgap signing, and if the worst comes to bear,we can always reinforce in the January window.
