BURNLEY. Could be a move out for Hendrick as contract a year from ending. Would help fund a move for a replacement ...

I’m hoping that Hendrick story is nonsense... to fund a replacement?!

Madness to let Jeff go. If this has legs Phillips will not play later today

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
So Nixon has just said we are going to ‘fund’ our next signing by selling Jeff Hendrick.
That’s right, ‘fund’.
If that has to happen to make something else happen then serious questions need asking. Also, where’s the logic in us finally plugging our CM depth hole by selling a CM (and also a valuable utility player)? Baffling, if this is in anyway true.
Out of contract in a year, but in the circumstances, I’d keep him and see what happens.

Nixon's tweet says "Could be a move out for Hendrick as contract a year from ending. Would help fund a move for a replacement" which sounds like it's pure speculation on his part.

Seems to me that if we have a player with a year left they sign or we ship out and get a fee. Nixon says it would fund not we have to sell first.

I thought that Vokes and Heaton wanted to move, therefore creating a position to be filled.Blyclaret wrote:Vokes / Jay Rod

With Defour out again and Cork injured, we need someone in, possibly without any one leaving.
Last year we had Heaton returning from a long lay off and Pope injured, we brought in Hart, without selling a keeper.
It may be preferable for the club to free up a wage, but not crucial.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If Agyei and Dunne are to be named in the 25 (Mcneill is too young) with 3 keepers we have our squad of 25-so it will be one in and one out. But if neither go into the 25 we have two slots presently-so no need to do any swap deals

Putting the Hendrick negativity to the side - as I’m not a fan of that story, Phillips would be a fantastic signing.
Vydra clearly not in the plans here so if we got Phillips for 15m plus him I think that would be great for all three parties.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
People need to stop taking Nixon’s speculation as fact. We obviously don’t need to sell a player to bring one in. Our accounts are published and we are in a healthy financial position.
There is a limit to squad size though and in some positions it sometimes makes sense to move one out to bring one in. We’re a bit heavy in the striker department for example.
It would be madness to sell Hendrick this late in the window and I doubt we’re considering it. If he won’t sign a new deal we could recoup a fee in January.
As for the link with Phillips, I’d be pretty happy if we signed him.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Kevin is 29 soon and if Jimmy Dunne really has potential to be a top flight CH and be a better prospect than Kevin was 9 years ago when he arrived-then selling KL to fund a slot for a MF player makes sense if we are keeping the rest of the squad together but it depends what SD thinks of Jimmy Dunne

Why does it appear more players are rumoured to be leaving as opposed to wanting to join us?
Why does it appear more players are rumoured to be leaving as opposed to wanting to join us?
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
What makes people think that Nixon knows anything about our financial situation?
The Age profile of our team is at the top end and like Fergie did with Utd 4 times redeveloping the team, dont you think Dyche has recognised he needs to do the same? Unfortunately that will mean stall warts need to move on to make way for the youth to come through. Phillips makes sense, as straight in to replace Cork (Hendrick is a utility player and would need someone who can lay wing and centre), then Benson on the bench, that would give 4 CM , I think we need to look at the wings as Lennon aged back up for JBG and Injury prone Brady back up for McNeil, if Tarky goes, the CB is looking at 2 CB with 2 back up in Dunne and Long. Just my observation, but I am fairly sure the manager and board know a lot more than any of use, and a hell of a lot more that any pundit trying to make wage by stating whatever he wants with no reprise.

Maybe our salary structure has changed. £52 million would go on a squad of 25 at £40k/week-and we have to pay a lot more than 25 and there is the NI to pay on that too (?£7million on salaries of £52million) as well as transfer deals and agents' fees, infrastructure etc. .Blackrod wrote:This can’t possibly be the case. Really, I've barely heard of him.RVclaret wrote:Kalvin Phillips would be an outstanding signing.
What's his attributes etc?
Is he a creator etc, as when I've watched Leeds he seems quiet/unnoticed in terms if contribution, so in my head I have defensive screener.
Not a bad thing, just he doesn't jump out to me as a player you'd break your transfer record for

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Not saying he doesn't know anything. However, someone recently posted on here a list of the players he's linked Burnley with in recent times - vast majority didn't end up with us. We don't know whether there was anything in these links but that's what he's counting on. If he spits out enough names, he'll get one right eventually.Granny WeatherWax wrote:Don’t talk sense people won’t believe.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Would like to think this could happen regarding Phillips but it seems like it’s been left too late. If he doesn’t play today their may be something in it mind you.
As for the Hendrick thing....we can’t afford to let him go.
Long probably deserves his chance if he leaves for Forest. Is Dunne ready to step up? He was out of position a couple of times in his short cameo yesterday, but recovered well. So we will find out in due course.
Brady injured yet again, along with our other wingers who tend to pick up knock also leaves me with a list before a Thursday of :
Center mid x 1 providing Hendrick goes nowwhere.
Winger, preferably right footed.
Striker if Vydra leaves /Wells leaves
All though I expect 1 out of the 3 sadly

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Living in Leeds and as Leeds were constantly on Sky I've seen a lot of Kalvin Phillips. He was the player I wanted us to sign before the summer began.
He had an outstanding season at Leeds. He sat in front of the back four and protected them well (a touch old job given how forward thinking Leeds were last season). He constantly made himself available to take the ball off the back four and demonstrated a fine repertoire of passes. He's also played centre half for Leeds as well as the most advanced of the midfield, so he's versatile.
That said, if we do indeed want him, I think we've left it far too late to get him now.

Don’t disagree about Lennon, but this lad has got to be coached to attack both sides. He can’t just cut in every time.KRBFC wrote:I wouldn't judge his end product from a pre season friendly, he's been more productive than Aaron Lennon in the last 2 years and looks to have potential. I think most pacey wingers struggle with consistency otherwise they're playing at the very top clubs. The French u21 kid looks way more of a threat than at least 2 of the 4 we have outwide currently and potential to improve.
Pace always kills, so there’s potential, but on the showing we’ve had 20 million is a big gamble.
I am enjoying the silence that’s coming out of Newcastle, they have nothing to moan about. Ashley’s giving them what they want.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
The question isnt wether Benson is good enough for the premier league but would he be able to fill Corks boots. I leave that to those that know him better.ksrclaret wrote:If we were playing Championship football I'd be all for giving Benson the nod. I love seeing players coming through into the first team.
But it's so rare in PL football for an academy player to come in and be good enough straight away, and not only that, but to actually improve the side at the same time, because that's what we need. McNeil is a special talent and a special case.
I would say that he, or any others of our development team, would benefit and learn more from playing in the first team. That doesn't mean any of them would make the step up, just it would make them better players.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Really don't understand all the talk about us needing to sell before we buy.
We've reduced our wage bill, Crouch, Heaton, Ward and Vokes gone and Rodriguez, Pieters and BPF in.
We've spent £6.5m on Rodriguez, Pieters and BPF with Heaton going and not taking into account anything we received for Vokes.
We've got two free places in the squad unless Dunne comes in. Surely we can afford and entice at least one, ideally two midfielders to provide competition and cover.
If we only managed to get Phillips in exchange for Vydra + cash then that would at least strengthen the squad. Can't see much else happening at present.
