The 20 million offer made public is another tool to unsettle Tarks, same one we used for Fry

Release clause means if there's a £50m release clause and someone offers that they have to let the player speak to the club who offered it. Well it used to be that anyway lol.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If a release clause is £50 million, that's the release clause. The player is free to be released from their contract if that price is met, subject to their personal terms with the other club.

We had one for Trippier - if Tarks has one I would hope we did insert a high valuation - £50 M would seem right to me.

Apologies but “It isn't difficult to work out a valuation for Tarkowski, I can't believe the board can't work it out just as easily” sounded very much like you thought the board hadn’t/ couldn’t work it out.Colburn_Claret wrote:You've misread it if you think I was criticising the board. Not to be confused with "release Claws", which is a command i taught my Alexa to fulfil for my pet lion any time someone knocks on my door in a far-right manner.

Just like Maguire tarks has featured in England squads, now if Maguire is worth 85 million(he's overpriced BTW),Tarks must be worth 50 million of anyone's money.Colburn_Claret wrote:Maguire 85million
Ake 75 Million
Webster 20 million, no prom experience, no international caps
It isn't difficult to work out a valuation for Tarkowski, I can't believe the board can't work it out just as easily. If the reports of the offer from Leicester is true, then it's nothing short of insulting. In the boards shoes I'd tell them not to bother coming back.
You're quite right to highlight Webster, and if we had been relegated, then i'd say 30 million would possibly have got them Tarks, given our circumstances.
20 million they're taking the p**s,to quote another Maguire,

Taking the claret tinted specs off for a minute Maguire has 20 caps and had a stand out world cup. Tarks has two friendlies, he played internationaly but he's not 'an international' yet.tiger76 wrote:Just like Maguire tarks has featured in England squads, now if Maguire is worth 85 million(he's overpriced BTW),Tarks must be worth 50 million of anyone's money.
I don't think those two caps are worth the £10+ million people seem to add.

It would be absolutely unthinkable to sign David Jones again.
He wasn't good enough 3 summers ago for us so we let him leave. It surely won't happen... will it?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
But there's no reason to think we have any sort of intention to sign Jones is there?
In fact, Dyche has said we don't intend to, and we're just enabling him to train. OK he went somewhere else in the hope of earning a deal - that obviously didn't work out, so why wouldn't we have him back again?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I get the idea of helping out Jones by letting him train with us but why did he play today. ? We have an under 23 squad and an under 18 squad full of players who would benefit from the experience. One of them who we have just given a contract to, got 10 minutes as a substitute for Jones.

Jones will end up signing and all the happy clappers will be cheering it as a new signing. A fairly sad state of affairs where it even looks like a possibility.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
There is absolutely no reason for Jones to be playing in friendlies that seem to be in place to give fitness to first team and Under 23 players, unless.....?
I am pretty certain we would never consider signing him as it would be the most insane thing we’ve possibly ever done, but I definitely am at this point of the opinion that we will not be signing anyone at all and possibly just seeing Vydra, Wells and Tarkowski leave.
Cue meltdown, and rightly so.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
You don't think that playing 90 minutes alongside a player of Dave Jones' experience and intelligence won't have been a huge boost for Benson's development?
Not only is it not worth getting your knickers in a twist about because it's a friendly clearly arranged to be a bit of a hybrid of development game and a chance for some players who have played less in pre-season to get some minutes, so no juniors have actually lost of out on game time they'd have expected, the reason why Jones' presence might have been seen as helpful is blindingly obvious from a quick look at who he was playing alongside.

Benson has featured heavily in preseason , playing alongside current First Team players as opposed to someone who left on a free 3 years ago.

If we signed Jones now, we’d be doing so knowing full well he isn’t good enough so it would be as laughable as people are suggesting.
It’s for that reason I just can’t see it happening.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Jones is on trial. If he wasn’t before, he is now.
I’m struggling to recall another player we’ve “allowed to train” for over a month. We also took him to our preseason trip to Portugal and now he’s playing in friendly games alongside senior pros.
If we don’t sign a midfielder this week,I think he’ll sign a 1-year deal next week.

Equally, giving Vydra a full game could have been a chance for someone to watch him and improve the chance of selling him (assuming we’re trying to get shot).

You have just listed a bunch of poor signings, not ones that meet the criteria of signing a near 35 year old who we deemed not good enough three years ago, who has had a very poor three years at Wednesday. That’s without even mentioning our own established Premier League status with a very healthy bank balance behind us.
Edit - Worth mentioning that this entire debate is going to be irrelevant as I am still of the opinion there is no way we would ever consider it.
