It's pretty disheartening to see that CT seems to be indicating albeit in code, that we ain't going to get what we need in cm and even worse, it is going to get worse in the future.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
No problem. I took Spennymoor Town from the National League North to the Premier League in just 7 seasons. We went on to win the Premier League title five consecutive times, adding two Champions League trophies and an FA Cup in the process. Much of this success was down to my extremely diligent scouting which saw me unearth hidden gems from the likes of France, Hungary and Turkmenistan.*HarryPottsDesk wrote:Could all the posters who think they know better than Dyche and Garlick how to run a football club, and how to recruit better players in the transfer windows, post their credentials for knowing better. Not disheartening at all. I just understand our club, the size of it and how difficult it is for us. Don’t think I don’t get just as frustrated as everyone else though but I do think that if we can keep our key players, and that’s a challenge in itself, and maybe now add a midfielder, it will have been a good window.

Barnes & JRod have played left and Hendrick was better than solid on the right. No one can deny we have an extremely flexible squad who always manage to fill gaps as required.FactualFrank wrote:The potential problem with moving McNeil away from LM is our injury-prone wide players in Lennon, Brady and JBG.

Nothing much on social media at the moment other than Boro expect us to double our offer of Dael Fry to nearer £16m. However, I can't see why we'd do that unless someone such as Tarky is leaving. Maybe we told Leicester we won't sell him unless we first find a replacement.

Heard on Talksport that we were competing with Reading to sign George Puscas from Inter.
Googled him and everything points to him signing for Reading, 7.5m euros

Lennon - injury prone?

Has anything actually come out of why Brady went off on Saturday. I’ve never known any player go off for being winded before, which is what he was indicating?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Can't disagree with CT's assessment at all. Medium term survival will depend on buying potential and finding and developing young players and selling when they are at their peak value - hard to take - but its the Burnley way as the Chairman has stated. Yes sometimes we have to bring in older players without much resale value to stay competitive on the pitch.

He’s got a rib injury and got whacked there again. They are not serious injuries but I can confirm from experience that they are bloody painful and if you are not careful it can cause more damage.Winstonswhite wrote:Has anything actually come out of why Brady went off on Saturday. But we are not one injury short of having one central midfielder. And I also think we might see McNeil move in in there at some time and there is Benson coming through.
I certainly hope we dont have to move Mc Neil infield because he will be far more effective out wide and too lightweight in the middle in my opinion.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
The likes of Bournemouth and Brighton spend several million on signing kids with potential. Most Burnley fans then complain we are not doing the same by signing stop gap older players. How many of the Ibe's and the spanish fullbacks Bournemouth biught have been a success. Likewise Brighton last season, brought in about 10 players and not one for the first team but a spend of well over 50 million on them.
Who is to say we arent being a bit cleverer about it. Look at McNeil, cost us nothing. Looking at the u23s now there is Dunne, Koiki, Glennon-whatever, Richardson, Benson who could all possibly step up into our 1st team squad and do a job if required. Just because they havent cost us anything doesnt mean they wont be as good as an unknown spanish fullback B'mouth signed for 17million with about 3 games under his belt in a season.
My issue isnt as much not signing anyone but if we are happy to go with having 2/3 kids as part of the 1st team squad when required just say it. I know then there is the concern of expectation weighing heavily on the players shoulders but most arent 16 or even 19. They are 20 plus, sooner or later they will have to sink or swim and maybe that little push and hearing they are good enough will give them that extra bit of motivation needed to reach the top

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Some on here need to get a grip.
Given our form in 2019 has us as the 7th best premier league team, how easy is it going to be to improve on that. If we nab Drinkwater this has been an excellent window. If we don’t it is fine and no reason we can’t be comfortably mid table pushing the top 10.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Must say that I tend to agree that Brownhill, at roughly £15-16 million, doesn't seem like too bad value. Very similar profile to Hendrick when we signed him 3 years ago and the rate of inflation on his fee seems about right to me. He's different type of player to Kalvin Philips but the fee seems a lot more realistic.
Drinkwater would be an excellent signing on paper but I always worry about the effect on dressing room harmony of signing loan players who are on huge wages at their parent clubs, who it is assumed will displaced one of our permanent squad members.
The lad in France looks again, on paper, like a very interesting prospect and reasonable value in the current market - but again you always wonder why these sorts of prospects haven't been picked up already if they're as good as they appear.
But they're all promising links. Life in the window yet.
