If the club didn't think that he was going to appear again, wouldn't it be cheaper to pay his contract up ?
A proviso included that he couldn't sign for anyone else for the period of the season.

It will still take some time - the medical will be in Manchester and they may well bring him to Burnley for the interviews so we can make an announcement, but I am more than confident that this deal is going to happen.
