BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
City apparently open to letting Fabian Delph leave.
He’s 30 this year and had a couple of injuries last few years but generally kept himself fit.
Seems like the right type of character and can play more than one position.
He might be slightly above our price range and there may be bigger / wealthier clubs than us interested. I’d rather not be signing too many players at this age but you don’t often get England international midfielders with his Premier League experience and success becoming available at a price / salary level which isn’t a million miles away from what we could afford (assuming he could be in that bracket of around £60k - £70k a week ?)

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Delph would be ideal, but think he might be more a West Ham / Palace type signing. They're just that next level compared to us in terms of finances and pull.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Yep probably - maybe even Everton with Gomez going back.
Or Delph might see our his contract and rejoin his hometown club Leeds if they get promoted this season

My Everton supporting pal said they're signing Gomez , however this was Thursday, they're also hoping to sign zoum. He said looking at around 50m for the pair.

Yes definitely. With the Euros coming up next summer i wonder if some of the players on the fringes of international squads might be more open to clubs like Burnley in order to try and get more game time?burnley007 wrote:Delph would be a tremendous signing for us

I doubt it, the initiation season is to sit on the bench for 12 months first.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Can we really take a risk on Delph with his injury record?
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Having read a couple of utc threads / posts , Delph and if United get shut of Lingard they be perfect fit for Burnley.
BTW, I'm still on the ward.

Not sure about liking a debilitating illness but it’s an improvement on terminal. At the time, quite correctly, there wasn't much information available.ClaretTony wrote:She doesn’t have a terminal illness. She suffers from a debilitating illness.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
this is in the Mirror
Burnley will listen to offers for Ben Gibson this summer.
The 26-year-old arrived at Turf Moor in a £15m deal from his home-town club Middlesbrough just 12 months ago – but played just one league game in an injury-plagued campaign.
The Clarets would consider a loan move for the stopper who was on England’s radar before he was sidelined by a string of issues.
He was linked with Besiktas – but the Turkish club has played down that – but the newly-promoted trio of Premier League clubs all need to strengthen at the heart of their defence.
Middlesbrough would take him back – and Sheffield Wednesday are also keen – but the player is not looking to drop back down into the Championship.

At his age he really needs to be playing. Can't afford to waste another year sitting on our bench waiting for Ben Mee to get injured.Vegas Claret wrote:this is in the Mirror

Would be stupid to loan or sell him to a potential relegation rival unless we can agree a swap deal for another player that we wantVegas Claret wrote:this is in the Mirror

We can't afford to send Gibson out anywhere unless we have someone coming in.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Seems crazy, he was on the England radar when at Boro, although I'm sure he wont want another season sat on his backside.FactualFrank wrote:We can't afford to send Gibson out anywhere unless we have someone coming in.
We will start to struggle attracting these best of below players or they'll become expensive mistakes.
We need to start improving the first 11, which will in turn improve the squad.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
It's another one of those where we can't see into the future. Had we lost Mee to an injury or being sold, he'd have been needed. So in that respect it wasn't a mistake, as we covered ourselves very well. But he aint going to get into the first team as things stand. A loan deal, with the option of being able to bring him back if/when needed would be possibly ok, but I don't think that can happen if he's loaned out in this country.MACCA wrote:Seems crazy, he was on the England radar when at Boro, although I'm sure he wont want another season sat on his backside.

Other than that, try and get back as much as we can for him (if he wants to leave), but make sure we get a 20-25% sell-on fee, in case he does get into the England squad.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Agreed, he's far too good to be sat on Burnley's bench all season.FactualFrank wrote:It's another one of those where we can't see into the future. I really did think with SD magic he'd turn us into a better distribution from the back side, and get back into the England reckoning. Ben Mee has been very good since the turn of the year.
But if we did sell Gibson, and used the money to improve the first 11 ( midfield wise ) I'd accept the sale is needed.
Just struggling to see the plan going forward.
If we take the cup comps seriously, itd get some of the better bench players half a dozen games a season, and I know that ain't enough, bit with possible injuries and suspensions too, it's a start.

Loan out a player 1 year after buying him for £15M? I don't see that happening at all.

Yes, there's some rubbish out there.......particularly with the regurgitation of old news being presented as new scoops. At one time if a newspaper carried speculation then it would be denied either by the alleged selling club or a local journo "close to" the player, then gossip finished! Now local journos don't seem to be "close to" players anymore, so that could explain the local newspapers jumping on the chatter bandwagon.
It's not helped by clubs denying a rumour & then selling anyway, of course!

If Maguire goes to Citeh, it could set up a merry go round.
Tarks would be tempted if Leicester and Rodgers came calling, in which case losing Gibson would be madness.
I wouldn't like to lose either, but rather like our goal keeping problems too many good players of a similar ilk, is nearly as bad as having none.
