article states WBA want £5m mid-July with further £5m in 12 months
as we got reported £7m for him wouldn't that would be very good business!

Fair enough I thought I had missed a link to him for a minute

Nixon reporting that Celtic have bid a lot more than any English club for Turnbull from Motherwell
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Don’t think we were ever interested in Turnbull. Got the usual 3 team links, so smacks of agent talk.

£2.75m according to Nixon, with no English clubs likely to compete at that price, given that if he fails to step up they might suffer a loss of half that.
https://thisisfutbol.com/2019/06/rumour ... tic-boost/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Personally, I would say that a potential loss of £1.5m plus his wages is chicken feed in contrast to the potential upside for young players these days. He would only have to put in a half decent showing in the Championship to justify a £3m price tag in the future. Although his progress will depend on getting regular game time at decent level of competition somehow.
Will Celtic play him regularly next season or leave him to rot on their bench as they have done with a lot of Scottish talent in the past?
In the absence of competition for his signature, now that his price has been set, I guess we will see.
I'm surprised that none of the less affluent Championship clubs haven't been sniffing around Cadden on a free transfer who is also at Motherwell and that Celtic haven't shown interest in Greg Taylor so far.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Probably because it’s a bit hard to assess how good these players are when they are playing pub teams most weeks.
How many players in the last 5 years have made the switch from the Scottish league to a top championship team or a bottom half premier league team and made the step up ?
I can think of the lad at Villa and possibly the lad at Southampton (though he is usually on the bench).
The standard of player coming from north of the border has gone downhill significantly.

Yes by the way I know we’ve not been linked, but I’d say league rivals are our business.

Don’t understand your point about signing non league development players - how many of them have been a success.
All I am saying is that there are fewer and fewer players coming from Scotland to the top 2 leagues. That is a reflection on how poor the Scottish teams have become which to be fair to them is largely a result of the lack of money in the league which makes it harder to attract good players from abroad.

I do feel he’ll leave this summer, will be a bit of a merry go round when Maguire goes.
If Wolves are in as well as Leicester we could be looking at 40m+ with the length of his contract.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Wouldn't both Leicester and Wolves just look abroad ? There are far better players abroad who will cost peanuts and lower wages (so the myth goes) surely both these clubs with extensive European scouting networks would be taking advantage of this.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I’m sure both Leicester and Wolves are looking abroad but both clubs are more than capable of spending £40m on an individual player....£40m signings are now the territory of a number of “2nd tier” clubs in our league.
Look at the money they are now talking about for Maguire and Maddison - if the asking fees are to be believed they are going to generate more than £150m if / when they sell these players.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
A good player can be born anywhere and with the right training they will develop. Every league has stand out players, including the Scottish League.
I don't recall us playing Aberdeen off the pitch last year in the Europa. We beat them by the skin of our teeth in extra time and they had a team full of Scottish players.
I don't think anyone is suggesting that we fill up our shopping trolley to the brim with players north of the border, but the best the league has to offer could serve us well. Especially young players who have been getting regular game time at a level that is above that of our development teams.
We could always ask Joey Barton for his opinion on Greg Taylor. I'm fairly sure he will remember the late tackle that was put on him and what happened after
https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/ ... -sent-off/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Touch of class, the apology, not the tackle.
The point being that we really need to branch out into the foreign markets sooner rather than later, even markets as distant as Scotland.
I agree that Kalvin Phillips would be a good addition. Unfortunately, I would also agree that we probably wouldn't beat other clubs to him.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Regards Tarkowski, if we are going to sell to Wolves ( or any other club ) and fancy a Wolves player, we maybe better getting him in a deal, as if Brentford are due 25% of any fee over 3m, by the time we sign a replacement or the next for the conveyor belt there wont be much if any profit.
They are great going forwards, if they can sure up the back with a star or 2, they'll be there or there abouts again.
Their back line last season was most if not all from the championship winning team.

Earlier in the window we were rumoured to be interested in Luca Connell at Bolton, but it looks like he might be off to Celtic.
https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/ ... sfer-news/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Our previous Chief Analyst Lee Darnbrough, who is now with Hull, appears to be in the market for Greg Taylor who I mentioned earlier.
https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/foo ... c-16514629" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
He could lose out to Celtic and their strategy of scooping up all the reasonably priced young talent or Rangers. I'm guessing that it could all depend on the case he can make for playing time and whether he is willing to pay more than 400K.
More importantly will be how Darnbrough is going to explain away the fact that Hull are looking like they will lose a significant chunk of their first team. If Bowen and Grosicki are sold, which would add to the players who have been released and those available on free transfers, it will leave Hull looking at a total rebuild with little cash to do it. I suspect that is why Adkins was happy to jump off a sinking ship.
It also looks like Turnbull might be a turn coat if his agent continues to stir the pot.

Stone has said he's trying to prepare players ready for the 1st team quickly & he seemed to fit the bill. I'm expecting a lot of trialists from other clubs when they return to pre-season.

Jamal Lowe is a good player. For the money being talked about I would take the risk. There is certainly a bit of X factor with this lad. That goal he scored against Sunderland in the checkatrade trophy was class.

Problem is he'd be likely to be stuck on the bench all season and not given a chance.
