It’s not a rumour if some kid in his bedroom pretending to be a journalist posts it.

To be fair, that’s exactly what a rumour is. The thread is transfer news though - although clearly it wouldn’t be on the first page of this board if we only had posts about our transfer news.

This is the bit I really dislike about Dyche. "Money is hard to find at this place". What a load of patronising, disrespectful ******** that is.

He must have broken out transfer record about 5 times since he's been here. And be barely even plays those players anyway.

Sorry, but his rhetoric really winds me up.

His management is the sole reason we’ve been able to do that. I’d be just a bit worried if after spending half a decade combined with revenues over £100m, the transfer record remained a £3m George Boyd signing.

Exactly. So money isn't hard to find, is it?

Of course it's all relative to the other PL clubs. But he'll have known his budget, so I would suggest he works within it, rather than moaning about it Billy Davies style.

Would spending more actually guarantee any more success?

How many other clubs get to play in Europe, even spending ten times our budget?

Of course it doesn’t guarantee any more success but it drastically increases the chances.

We need to spend some decent money on improving the starting 11 as we have stood still for the past 18months.

One of Dyches biggest flaws is his lack of adaptability in player recruitment. He just cannot and does not seem able to pull of big signings. This will harm his career a

Disappointing to hear. Given the miracles Dyche has worked (including generating healthy amounts of money in player sales) you'd hope that the board would back him more

I doubt it. Unless Dyche is the reason why we cannot pull off big signings.

Perhaps he’s used these words to dampen the expectations of selling clubs of which players we are targeting, in the hope that they realise we aren’t going to up our offer by the £10m’s a time; in which Dyche already quoted this window that clubs are demanding these days.

Having listened to 2 Q and A sessions with Dyche, given the opportunity I don't think he would speak to the press.

I wouldn't read much into what he's said.

The media experts on UTC would rather him say we're in for a number of British and overseas targets as we've a stack of cash to burn.

I would think he still has the final say on all transfer activity (in and out)

He will have dictated the type of players he prefers (Rigg can add further suggestions if, as I suspect, his parameters are thought to be very narrow)

He will also be well aware of budgets available

So if we don't get any further starting 11 players in, then he should take a fair proportion of the blame

Weird thing to ask considering we’re not in Europe right now...but I’ll rise to it.

Actual figures don’t mean much: we managed to spend around £25-30m last summer without improving the first XI.

However, unless there’s a centre mid who represents an upgrade on Jack Cork available for us on a free out there, yeah I reckon we’re going to have to spend some more money.

If only SD could pull off those big signings such as Victor Valdes, Alvaro Negredo, Renato Sanches, Andre Schurrle etc, maybe he too could be out of a job like Karanka and Clement or managing in Qatar like Jokanovic.

We get a quote like this from SD almost every transfer window (usually one line taken out of context) and every transfer window the usual suspects tell us that he's ****** off and won't want to stay if the board don't back him more.

He's still here.

Dyche has thrown out a few of these type of comments, during transfer windows. I wouldn’t read too much in to them.

That said, we do need to release the purse strings more than we have so far, in this window. The last few haven’t really fulfilled requirements.

As ever with us, it’s a judge once it’s closed.

They will be holding him to blame too. Some utc posters have hold someone accountable yet are reluctant to give any credit as they know better.

All clubs like ours have difficulty getting players that often have ideas above their station and want to play for a big city or top six club...you will continue to see small building blocks every year and not big name signings. It’s obvious and absolutely nothing against Dyche’s ability to attract players

Generally yes. With a few exceptions the league tables tend to pretty much match up to what the wages (which generally are pretty similar to transfer spending) are.

There will be one-offs like us coming 7th and Man Utd's current performance but in the long-term not many clubs buck the trend.

What he has said reads like a direct dig at the board. He would be better off saying nothing, unless he’s pointing out to us that it’s not his fault. That doesn’t tally with his all in this together mantra.

I don’t know. Obviously we keep things quiet and all but word generally gets out from the other end, and recently it’s been much quieter than last summer. Don’t take my word for it at all, but I have just a nasty gut feeling our window is finished.

I think the question we should be asking, is: “With the same manager and the same recruitment team, would spending more money be statistically more likely to lead to an improvement in league position than spending less money”

No other question matters.

I really tried to make this thread a point of reference, but its become the norm like Ivy growing and strangling the outcome. Mods, please can you lock the post and possibly make a pinned post for Transfer rumours/updates with links as a pinned post until the transfer window closes, as i do agree with others with the amount if crap currently getting posted lately, without a link will mean it gets lost, where as those of us who enjoy keeping up with our club at work etc, can jump straight to any updates rather than trawl through pages of ego building bo11ocks
