I hope not he’s way below our requirements. Got eclipsed last season by a player we let go for free.

Reports are that a host of championship clubs are after him anyway.

We need to be looking at much higher calibur player than Ejaria

Thought so. Bit harsh on Scotty saying we let him go on a free when he wouldn't sign a new deal so he could go to his beloved Rangers for.a big payday

Right now, I would only put Everton and Leicester in that group.

2 years ago, I don't think any experts had Stoke and West Brom (both teams who had been in the PL for close to 10 years) as going down, so even after multiple years in the PL, they couldn't ensure their safety.

We are slowly increasing our talent level, some on higher costs (like Wood) and others through some great buys (McNeil, Barnes, Pope), but are starting XI is getting better.

Will this year be a struggle? Probably, but throwing cash around isn't necessarily going to assure our safety.
I think Stoke and West Brom both got a bit complacent. Their mindset seemed to become that they didn't need to strengthen much, and oh well there'll definitely be 3 worse teams than us. I fear a similar mentality is creeping in with us.

Really ?
I thought both Stoke and West Brom were spending more than ever on transfers and wages - it’s just that the players they were buying didn’t work out. Eg Stole bought a midfielder from Italy for £20m who hardly played and the ex Real Madrid striker who was also a flop.
The truth was it was just their time - like one year it will be ours.
Isn’t it about 50 teams who have been in the Premier League and only 6 teams who have never been relegated. Plenty of examples of teams who have spent a fortune and been relegated.
Plenty of examples of teams trying to change their style of football, manager or the things that got them their success and going down -arguably the reasons why West Brom and Stoke went down.

Ejaria is nowhere near good enough.

Grujic is still a Liverpool player and on loan in Germany

I’d take Ejaria. Not the finished article but he is only 21 and shows a lot of promise. With the right mentoring he could be a world beater.

Incredible that people are still taken in by these posters who claim they know exactly what is happening and that it will happen for a FACT.

In the last week we've had someone say Tarkowski to Leicester for £40m is nearly done. That didn't happen. We've had someone say Gibson is going to Leeds. That didn't happen. We've had someone say Bailey Peacock-Farrell is happening. That didn't happen.

I wonder what will become of this latest fact?

Whenever I've seen Grucic he always looks like he needs some structure & discipline to his game, moves all round the park but never where he should be, then loses interest cos he's not getting the ball. Thought he was going back on loan to Hertha Berlin?

It's hard to judge from a youtube clip from 2 years ago, but he didn't strike me as being particularly impressive. From that brief snapshot he looked like one of those players who is further ahead in his physical development than his peers, which allows him to impose himself on games.

Over time his peers, who lack his physical presence but eclipse him in terms of their overall technical ability, catch up as their bodies mature to the demands of the game. At that point they start to move ahead of him and gradually leave him in the dust.

Like I said, that montage is two years old, but if his playing ability hasn't kept pace with his obvious physicality ( or from the looks of it improved at a faster rate to fill in the gap ) he could be something of a busted flush.

On the other hand you have a highly technical player with a good head on his shoulders like Kyle Scott who is available on a free transfer.

Unfortunately it looks like he is off to Newcastle

TOON UNWILLING TO PAY FOR BOWEN

Hull City are demanding £20m for forward Jarred Bowen according to the Newcastle Chronicle, with Newcastle unwilling to pay that amount for their next summer target.

The 20-year-old has impressed on Humberside since his breakthrough into the first team, and was subject of interest from Spurs in January.

No wonder we havent signed him bonkers price

We paid £15m for Wood two seasons ago, £20m for Bowen would seem about right based on market inflation - and he’s English.
