How hilarious is the Rooney rumour tho. Couldn’t compete with villa for Heaton but yeah Rooney is in our price bracket. Kind of makes Boden look a complete fool if I’m honest.

Rooney on $3.5m at DC United, surely there are players on close to this at Burnley?

If we’ve bit for another centre back one looks to be on the way out.
Tarkowski, Long or Gibson I’m guessing.

So about £3m plus no doubt he gets all sorts of sponsorship deals. Way out of our league unless he wants a pay cut. That’s the last I’m saying on the absolute nonsense.

Doing our usual trick of trying to look busy during the last few days of the window. Expect a few more derisory bids to go in for players before Thursday.

Yeah, Dunk would be surprising to say the least. Still, 5/1 for Leicester is interesting. Could be worth a punt!

if certain posters are to be believed we've been in for Fry for a good few weeks and have already had a cash offer of 15 million rejected. The thought among the Boro fans seems to be we might be attempting a cash + player deal for him

Off topic but what the hell are we going to do with a 15m defender who never plays because we already have someone in his position, prob best to move him or loan him out get his value up, dosent make sense benching him for another season

It’s just a big game of poker and we supporters are sat nowhere near the table.

Let’s say we did offer £15m for Fry a while back and thought they were having a laugh with their rejection and are just trying it on now to see if we can secure a quality player for a bargain price. It has failed. We offer £10m and Borough have 72 hours to make their mind up. At worst Fry is unsettled and we go back in January.

If we sell Long for £5m and get Fry for £8-10m bingo

If Tarks is on his way then we would be bidding higher for Fry. Tarks has a contract till 2022 so we will only sell for a price we can’t refuse. I think Dunk is no more for sale than Tarks but the bookies will make a market for anything. How often do they get the new manager odds right?

All just guesswork. There is so much misinformation out there it is impossible to guess

I just hope we sell Tarks for a realistic price, unlike with Heaton, how often do you get an opposing manager gloating at his good fortune in the press, not often, but the Villa Manager has with Tom.

In the meantime Dean Smith will be content in the knowledge he can offer incoming players, including our Tom, £65k per week as he attempts to make Villa competitive in the Premier League.

Meanwhile we have been in the big league since 2016 and Sean can only dream of such salaries for his players.

And content that we gifted an England international to him, under contract, to a rival at a ridiculously low price.

Aye, that as well.

From our perspective there must come a time soon when we go that extra mile if only to prove we are genuinely serious about being competitive in this league. Whether that is by breaking our transfer record again or paying existing players more in salary, we must show more intent to those clubs around us that we now possess the financial clout to make a real go of being competitve in the best league in the world. We should not be being upstaged by newly promoted clubs like Aston Villa as Tom Heaton laughs all the way to the bank.

Well, yes they are Mel, but at the same time we are reporting record Profit levels each financial year. KRBFC gets a lot of stick on here but he makes a valid point that we need to find the right balance in order to allow Dyche a fighting chance in the market by utilising those funds to our best advantage.

At the moment, we are falling short in that respect and it clearly shows with some of the comments from Dyche in recent days. Just at the weekend he referred to the finance being in place but funds being very difficult to find at the Club. You almost sense his frustration.

If you're suggesting that if Villa make losses of £200m over 4 years, then so should we - how do you propose to finance it?

There's no point throwing money about in a bid to persuade other clubs (the ones we want to buy players from) that money is no object and they can name their price.

Not suggesting that at all. More that we better utilise the funds we have in order to give Dyche a fighting chance to succeed in very difficult circumstances. As of now, the balance between being prudent and being competitive is not quite to the manager's liking, and it shows in his interviews.

Seems a strange one for us and Brighton.

West Ham and WBA are rumoured to be chasing Albian Ajeti, my Tombola target, as a relatively low cost striker addition with potential. If we are looking to bring in another striker as part of a complicated domino deal he would still be a good buy IMO
