Cue meltdown, and rightly so.
Sounds like you have melted down already. Getting in early before the rush?

My problem is that I can't share your own opinion of yourself as a football guru. If I hear that Sean Dyche wants to sign a particular player, and that Jedi_master thinks that would be a bad idea, I tend to go with Sean Dyche. Now that doesn't mean that Dyche is a better manager than you or that he's a worse manager than you, because I don't know how good you are. But I have seen Dyche managing this club for long enough that (in the absence of evidence to the contrary) I trust him more than you.

Sorry. Maybe when you have a bit more practical experience on record?

You've still not understood the point of a message board.

Jedi gave his opinion that it would be a bad signing. To which you are free to agree or disagree.

But instead you imply that nothing should ever be spoken of because whatever Sean Dyche does can never be questioned. Can you imagine if every thread followed your favoured pattern? It might go something like this:

Poster 1: we've signed David Jones. Good or bad signing?

Poster 2: well Sean Dyche knows better than any of us so we can't really comment

Poster 1: Oh yeah good point. Sorry mods please close this thread. Mind how you go

We tried to sign Drinkwater a few years ago from Leicester, I think ahead of the season they won the Premier League. He played at Watford when Dyche was assistant manager.

He’d be our best centre midfielder if he signed.

I know we like to rate our own players but let’s be realistic. He was instrumental in Leicester City’s title win.

Was never going to work out for him at Chelsea, was signed for homegrown quota only, like Barkley.

Not only is it not worth getting your knickers in a twist about because it's a friendly clearly arranged to be a bit of a hybrid of development game and a chance for some players who have played less in pre-season to get some minutes, so no juniors have actually lost of out on game time they'd have expected, the reason why Jones' presence might have been seen as helpful is blindingly obvious from a quick look at who he was playing alongside.

Its David Jones we're talking about, not Andrea Pirlo. I liked Jones, but it's clutching at straws to suggest playing alongside him in a glorified kick about is going to massively help Benson's development.

Sun

CHELSEA are struggling to offload misfit midfielder Danny Drinkwater – partly due to his £100,000-a-week wages.

London's Evening Standard say Brighton and newly-promoted Norwich have asked about the 29-year-old.

The Seagulls have reportedly been interested in a loan deal for the former Leicester star, who has never won a regular place at Stamford Bridge since his £35million arrival in September 2017.

Can’t see us paying the full 100k a week depends how much Chelski are willing to keep paying

Burnley keen on French midfielder

Burnley look set to rival Marseille for Nates’ French midfielder Abdoulaye Toure, according to France Football.

Reports in France suggest the player is more keen on a move to England, and would cost at least €10million.

Is he that much of an upgrade on Cork? He’s barely played for two years, will be on extortionate wages and he’s nearly 30. He was good in Leicester’s title season (entire team was) but before that and since?

Lives in Cheshire though so ticks the boxes...

Agreed. Good pedigree and has had a fine career, but his 12 appearances in two years is a concern. Will he still be sharp and effective?

£100k per week would be £5million for a season and we would play him
So Chelskipay him £60 and we chip in £40 and pay Chelsea £3 -£5million to loan him
Better than the £16 million paid plus wages to have two strikers getting segs on their arses sitting on the bench

Christian Fuchs and Wes Morgan are PL winners who started every week, would you have them?

It’s not about getting above our station it’s about the reality of the situation. What will his fitness be like? Never mind match fit but the hallowed ‘Dyche fit’? He’s nowhere near that Chelsea team who haven’t had the best CM’s going recently - in particular you’d think he’d link well with Kante - yet nothing? These are all legitimate points.

Plus how much are we stumping up for wages? Even a loan would be a significant wedge cause they’ll be wanting a loan fee too no doubt.

For it depends on the attitude of the player. Is he is just in it for the money and mentioned on here £100k pw to sit on a bnech or does he want to play at a subsidised wage of say £50 to £70k pw with a probable big signing on fee. If its the latter then great he still has the fire and passion in him to play, if not he can stay where he is for me.

Drinkwater is on the wrong side of the curve for me.

We need to be buying players that are desperate to play and move to a big club. He was great for Leicester when he had Vardy to pick out, over the top balls for him to run on to.

But he earned his top 6 move after winning the title and earned his top wages while not playing much. It would take huge character to get himself fully motivated again to play at a lesser club on lesser wages.

Way to select the two oldest players from that team!
Morgan as backup? Was he not thr bloke that absolutely dominated Tarks in the air to get the winning goal for 10 man Leicester?...

IMO, Danny Drinkwater was genuinely exceptional that year; ok he had Mr. Kanté along his side but still....

He was playing in a system similar to ours & was great at putting first time balls through in the channels - perhaps a midfielder with quick release would result in a few less offsides for our forwards...

If everything in football stayed the same, you’d have a point. Reputation and past achievements guarantee nothing. I’d be cautiously happy with the signing, but it’s not unreasonable to raise concerns that a two year absence from first team football may have taken a toll.

Ok fair enough but there’s Albrighton etc too.

And that quick release ball surely relies on a forward with blistering pace, like Vardy, which we categorically don’t have.

I dunno, I do get the logic and Dyche obviously knows him, but I think this could be an expensive one and I’m not sure the risk/reward balance is right.

The point was clearly that you’d take a PL title winner whoever it was. Also, since then, Mahrez is playing for City and Vardy their highest paid player.

Hard to judge a player who nobody has seen kicking a ball for 2 years.
If it’s the Drinkwater we saw at Leicester and break into the England team of course that would be a great addition - it’s just hard to see how he could be when he has not been involved for so long.

Drinkwater on loan is better than nobody, even if he didn't start he'd be an able replacement for Cork. If we don't sign another midfielder which is looking increasingly likely, then I'd be happy with him.

You could say the same about Tarks, Vydra and Gibson who got very little game time in their first season here. I'm sure he's still good enough and might have a point to prove to Chelsea. I think SD could bring the best out in him especially if he gets Dyche fit.

I don’t get all this nonsense about hasn’t played for two years. He has been training at Chelsea, where competition is fierce, he’ll be raring to go but would have to earn his spot. It would definitely sharpen up Cork & Westy knowing he’s sat waiting.
