What market do you expect us to be shopping in? Experienced cover (such as Bardsley), one for the future, a loan (such as Flanagan) or a genuine challenger to be first choice?

Pointless having someone that won’t challenge whether it is a young player or experience.

My realistic expectations are that Defour, Brady, JBG and Lennon are back to full fitness, we hold on to Tarks, McNeil and Gibson and we sign Jayrod with the clause in his contract. I don't even see us replacing Ward because Mee can play LB with Gibson in the middle.

I'm not being negative or critical of the club, just realistic.
I’ll plait sawdust if Ben Mee plays left back with Gibson in the middle

You may be right and it would not surprise me. What's happened to the great approach we had 2/3 year's ago in signing the next in the production line like Keane, Tarks and Charlie and Pope? Surely these ypung players should be bending over backwards to be Dyched.
Although a lot more money wouldn't this lad from Chelsea fit that plan, if we can get him that is.

Be hard to find a half decent left back who is willing to come and sit on our bench for the next 4/5 seasons and be cover for Taylor.

Yeh I bet they ain’t thought of that - why don’t you pop round to the club tomorrow to suggest it ?
They are probably too busy congratulating Dyche on all his great buys and being responsible for bringing the club half a billion of revenue in his short time at the club - muppets....they should be tearing into him about Wells and Stephen Reid and quizzing him about bringing Noble on trial from Sunderland in his first year.

Why so much speculation on potential signings, now approaching 1,000 posts? Spurs got to the Champions league final without making any signings this time last year. We have two players for every position if we play either Gibson or Mee at left back if necessary.

There is therefore need to sign anybody unless we sell someone first. Lets give Vydra, Wells and Gibson the opportunity to prove themselves.

For me centre mid and upfront is a far greater priority than left back. Bardsley has played there before, and I'm sure Gibson could do a job there if needed.

Of course we need to sign players otherwise there's a higher risk we will standstill or worse get relegated. It would be so complacent if we didn't and we must look to continueously improve.

Regarding Wells, we had a few people on here who knew we wouldn't have any injuries and so Wells was a pointless signing.

Yeah we tried the whole don’t actually improve the first team thing last summer. Didn’t go brilliantly. Also that Wells geezer isn’t going to start banging them in at this level because quite frankly he isn’t good enough. Probably best to just spend money on good players, in my opinion.

Brady can also cover for LB, although he doesn’t fit the 6’+ criteria for our back 4.

Height doesn't matter for a left back. And don't forget... Mee can cover at left back (he can't).

Well you’ve shocked me there. I’ve previously seen Lowton and Ward listed at 6’ and Taylor looks bigger than both, although wiki gives him as 5’9”!!. Bardsley is given as 5’11” also.

Well I ain't counting wells and think counting on Defour's fitness is too risky. So like almost everyone else I think we need a striker, a centre midfielder and a left back. If we move wells and hart on we have room in the squad for all 3. The 1st 2 need to be starter quality. JRod and Mooy would be perfect and should be doable. Both add quality over what we have fit.

Whether this is true or not, from a fan's POV you simply cannot count him as a squad member. Any minutes will always be a bonus this season. Which is why central midfield is the priority.

A player who they spent 8m or so on, has proved nowhere near good enough for the Premier League over the course of three years or so - and then sold for 26.5m for doing well against the likes of Preston, Blackburn, Rotherham and the other non entities that occupy the lower leagues.

And some on Twitter have the audacity to question us wanting at least £40m for Tarkowski?

to be fair, his time in the PL was spent in a defence set up by Eddie Howe.........

Tyrone Mings:

- Moved to Bournemouth for £8m.
- Played 23 times in 4 years.
- He’s now going to Aston Villa for a reported £26.5m.

Was just thinking the same thing.

According to reports, they are still in the market for Jack Butland, Kalvin Phillips and Said Benrahma.

Only time will tell how this spending will work out for them, although to be fair, they appear to have bought far more sensibly than Fulham did last season.

Doing a Fulham. Instead of improving a decent team they are decimating it. No team spirit and half of them won’t gel.

They only scraped up themselves so they probably need to spend.

I think they’ll struggle - Smith was under pressure and would have probably been sacked had they not won the Play-Offs, think he’ll be gone by November time.

I don’t believe Grealish or Mings are good enough for this league. Time will tell.

It was more the tired observation about Howe teams not having a clue about defending.

Apparently not
