I’d be interested to know if VAR would have been used if Alli’s header had scored.
Correct decision against Wilson.

With the time it’s taking for VAR to be used I can envisage a lot more posts on here next season complaining about the amount of “early leavers” :o

Watching Gareth Southgate's England is nearly always painful.

An almost complete inability to score goals from open play coupled with suicidal (and boring) tapping about at the back.

I don't need VAR to be denied a scoring opportunity.

But sadly if Mee and Tarks were in the England squad they'd be instructed to play the same suicidal tippy-tappy crap that Southgate has instigated.

England need a better manager more urgently than different defenders.

I'm sure Southgate would be happy to sign your sticker book if you were to ask again, Rowls.

He probably just didn't hear you. Either that or he hates Tories.

Doesn’t matter how good some fans think he is, he’s there to get results and win competitions. Robson and Venables couldn’t.

Laughable you think to date he's proven to be better than Robson and Venables.

Venables W11 D11 L1 and in the 5 games at Euro96 we were average at best in 3 of them. Also the football we played in the friendlies was absolutly tedious and not a patch on the Football Southgates team play at times

Southgate W19 D9 L7

The best England team we've had in the last 40 years was Sven's 2004 team

He’s got the euros to prove his mettle tbf . The qualifiers are pretty much walkovers so it’s a hiding to nothing for any manager .These lads will develop no doubt . That said another mediocre display against bang average opposition
Semis in the euros will be the target imo.

What's surprised me is that people haven't taken to the streets in celebration. Was expecting breaking news with cities such as Manchester, Birmingham & London all filled with fans celebrating this monumental success.

If you think Southgate has already proven to be better than Bobby Robson and Terry Venables fair enough but I certainly don't. Southgate has obviously done a good job. Incidentally Southgate said this about Venables: "Terry opened my eyes to things that no one else has. He has fantastic tactical awareness. Every senior player in the group went away having learnt a lot from him, which is an achievement."

All opinion but that 90 world cup campaign wasnt that great. We drew with Ireland with a poor performance, hung on to a 0-0 against the Dutch then scraped through 1-0 against Egypt (when those sides were really poor) with a Mark Wright header

Belgium outplayed us and we scraped through with the last kick of extra time and then we were 10 mins off Cameroon knocking us out needing 2 penaltys and extra time to finally win

The whole British pop culture exploding (madchester) crossing over with football (New Order) plus Gazza plus a brilliant performance against Germany clouded over how average we really were. Look at our qualifying campaign too we were not very good

Compare it to the qualifying campaign for 2004 followed by the football we played against France, Switzerland, Croatia and Portugal in the tournament and without the nostalgia and sentiment 2004 is the best we have been since 66

Great player Hoddle and had great potential as a Manager. Unfortunately had very strange religious views believing that for instance, disabled people deserved their disabilities. Another to fall into the category of religious nutcase.

Ah yes! That glorious moment for English football when a man was sacked for his religious views and our Prime Minister even weighed in on the matter.

Job Description
